I love fresh mozzarella and I have it in salads and on home-made pizzas. My wife says that I eat too much of it and that it is fattening- is it? Is there an alternative I could try if it is fattening?

Thanks.

Mozzarella also known as Italian Cheese is made from whole or part skim milk, and is widely used in the food service industry. Butter or cheese contain saturated fats which will increase one's weight and are definitely fattening. If you want to flatten, avoid Mozzarella and go for cheese with unsaturated fats.

Yes Mozzarella and Cheddar are two of the highest cheeses concerning fat. Yu could try cottage cheese or Feta as an alternative.

It's ok to eat cheese, because it is loaded with protein (and calcium... and phosphorus). Just don't eat too much. Think: fried mozarella is not ok, but a little cheese on your salad (the sharp-flavored ones, not mozarella, ok?), is not too bad, right?

Yes, just put a little amount of cheese on your food, then it is okay. When you eat too much cheese, it will really get you fat.

Mozzarella and other cheese are fattening because of milk. If you can avoid cheese, please do so and have your weight go down.

Fine. If you really don't like cheese, go to the vegan store, they have alternatives there. HTH.

If you want you can buy low-fat mozzarella. There are some supermarkets that are selling cheeses that are less in fat and low in sodium.

No doubt, mozzarella is fattening. If you can buy low fat or sodium mozzarella, that would be better. Or, just use cottage cheese.

All type of cheeses out in the market already has its non fat line brand. Kraft, one of the leading brands of cheese, has its own fat free mozzarella and it’s very good for people who are on a diet.
