Psyllium Husk Fights Cholesterol

There are a lot of different claims out there, and frankly I try to take them all with a grain of salt until I see some cold hard proof. Anyone can come out and say their product reduces cholesterol, but has a group of doctors actually tested it to make sure those claims are worthwhile? I’m perturbed to say that most of the time they haven’t.

Luckily, the recent claims regarding DrFloras Colon Cleanse and how it may reduce cholesterol are not merely empty promises. You may remember I recently endorsed DrFloras as my colon cleanser of choice, but with the data recently released by the Department for Natural Medicine supporting a link between Psyllium Husk and cholesterol reduction, I am even more excited to recommend it.

First off, the study, released in January of this year was performed on a respectable sample size, measuring how a three week regiment of Psyllium Husk supplements would affect the various cholesterol readings in the human body. It was a simple enough study, but the results are anything but simple.

You hear countless products touting their ability to lower cholesterol by X amount of points in a few weeks on any given television commercial. And while it may be true that they could reduce cholesterol, the results are often not significant. With Psyllium Husk, there was a solid, high reduction across the board, with an average reduction in total cholesterol of 16 points in just three weeks. The study goes on to recommend Psyllium Husk as a potential therapy for those with elevated cholesterol levels. This not only means there are viable uses for the supplement outside of colon cleansing and digestive health – it means it is actually a supporting factor in general heart and arterial health, something very few other supplements can add to their repertoires.

I’ve always been a fan of Psyllium. It is, after all, one of the very best natural ways to cleanse the body of toxins. There’s a reason it appears in many different colon cleansing products, including the one I recently decided to endorse as the best around. There is a reason that so much scientific and medical study is being done on the effects of the supplement as it continues to show that it can improve the overall health of those who take it multiple ways.

When I read, “Total cholesterol was significantly decreased from 252+/-39mg/dl before treatment to 239+/-37mg/dl after 3 weeks of treatment”, I grow even more excited at the prospect of what Psyllium Husk can do for the human body.

And this, in turn, makes me even happier to have endorsed DrFloras Colon Cleanse, a product chock full of Psyllium. This study shows that my choice for the best colon cleanser is now even better, as it may reduce cholesterol in addition to its powerful colon cleansing properties. There are few products out there that can start to claim multiple, sweeping health improvements. It is a breath of fresh air to see one that essentially can and that has the clinical studies and the supplement to back them up.
