My friend is a high BP patient. He frequently gets headaches? Do high BP patients suffer from more headaches?

The idea that high blood pressure causes headache is nearly 100 years old. Research usually failed to find more headaches in people with high blood pressure but suggest better sleep may offer relief for headaches.

According to one study, people with high blood pressure tend to have fewer headaches. Unfortunately, hypertension usually produces no symptoms. The first sign is often a heart attack or stroke.

Hypertension is called "the silent killer" because there are normally no warning signs. Just because you get a headache doesn't mean that you have high blood pressure; but a regular severe headaches, blurred vision, and nausea all at the same time may be signs of such a high BP condition that it can cause a stroke or heart attack.

IMO, they do suffer with headaches more than a person with normal BP. That is one of the symptoms my brother has when his blood pressure is out of control.

Not really. Headaches symptoms can be too hot or cold, eyesight problems haven’t eaten and fever. High blood pressure is only one of the symptoms of headaches.

Yes, we all know if you have a high blood pressure, you get headaches. Not all people who have high blood pressure suffer from headache. Stress, lack of sleep, low blood pressure and hot weather also causes headaches.

It seems true. My mother who has a hypertension tends to get headaches frequently even if her blood pressure is on the normal level. I should ask my mother’s doctor to clarify this info.

I have also read this in an article on the internet. Most people who have severe headache tend to have hypertension. In my point of view, hypertension triggers frequent headaches. My advice to people who suffers from these frequent headaches is to consult your doctor.

I have asked my mother’s doctor about headache and hypertension. He told us that they are not connected in any way. It might be migraine or sinusitis.

I consulted my father’s doctor and told me that it really causes headaches. His doctor didn’t prescribe any medicines for the headache but told him just rest and drink a lot of water and follow the maintenance meds.

My mother’s doctor didn’t prescribe any pain killer. He said that it may complicate her condition.

Yes, painkillers are bad for people with hypertension. It is also an addictive medicine and most people with headache take painkillers.

I think both. If you have low and high blood pressure you are prone to headaches. I have read an article on the internet that US doctors examine patients with low and high blood pressure and one of the symptoms they have in common is headache.

You’re correct james. People who have low and high blood pressure are prone to have frequent headaches. Headache is considered one of the symptoms of hypertension.
