Alopecia is a skin condition which makes you go bald. It attacks your autoimmune system (i.e the hair follicles) and makes the hair fall out. It can be mild, or it can result in being totally bald. There are different types of alopecia, and there is no cure, however it is possible to treat so that the hair can grow back.

Alopecia is the medical term for balding. It usually starts in men when they reach their 40s, but it can happen to women also. Good for your sister, there are a lot of treatment options for alopecia in the market nowadays. smile

Isn't Alopaecia common in women? They say that stress is one of the common causes, so changing your lifestyle might help your sister grow her hair back.

Alopecia is a hair loss condition affecting the scalp sometimes affecting one side more than the other. Its an autoimmune problem where the bodys immune system affects normal hair formation.

You could try minoxidil or immunotherapy if really desperate. Or just wait for it to right itself, and use a wig in the meantime.

Baldness runs in my family, as you can see in my photograph. But my son has been diagnosed with alopecia areata. He has been told to take Thyromin by a friend. Note this is not a doctor but a friend.
Can anyone tell me if this Thyromin works for spot balding?
Is thyromine and thyromin the same?
What else can help this condition?

When alopecia areata results in patches of hair loss, the hair usually grows back in 6 months to 1 year.Although the new hair is usually the same color and texture as the rest of the hair, it sometimes is fine and white. About 10% of people with this condition may never regrow hair. You are more likely to have permanent hair loss if yo have a family history of the condition.

Contact immunotherapy may be the most effective treatment for severe alopecia areata. A medication is painted on the scalp once a week. Hair growth may appear within 3 months of beginning treatment. A review of research on contact immunotherapy notes that about half of those with severe alopecia areata had a good response, but how much hair grew back varied widely. Side effects of contact immunotherapy include a severe rash, contact dermatitis and swollen lymph nodes, especially in the neck.

If hair loss is making you feel unattractive, it is important to talk to someone about it. A counselor can help, as can talking to other people with the same condition.

I do not think they are the same. Don't take any drugs without consulting a doc. I think Thyromine is for weight loss while Thyromin seems more for support of thyroid gland function, both of which I don't see as a cure for baldness.

Probably what you are looking for is not Thyromin, but Thymuskin. Easy to confuse the names. Thymuskin claims to combat hair loss and help stimulate new hair growth but I have no personal experience.

First, that, and second, medication can help re-grow the hair, but you can't stop bald patches from happening. Thyromin, cortizone, or any medication therefore, are all temporary solutions.
