CureYourBody.com is excited to announce the launch of
its new forums. The next several months will be critical to setting up the
forums the way you want them to be. So
if you feel we should add more categories or sub forums, please let us know.
We'll add sub forums on our own as well, if we feel a
large number of posts are being made on a specific topic. For example, "Colon Cleansing" was added as a sub forum to the Gastroenterology forum since there seems
to be a lot of posts for that specific subject.
I understand that banana has several vitamins which are good for health. Does eating banana a day keeps the doctor away? Any views. I invite valued opinion from forum members.

The banana provide greater benefits than most fruits,it promotes kidney health, helps build better bones, protects eyesight, improve elimination, sooth protection from ulcers and cardiovascular protection from potassium and fiber.
Yes, eating banana a day helps you in many ways. Banana contains tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, and generally make you feel happier.
Banana gives enough energy for you to do a 90 minute heavy duty workout.
Banana said to control depression (high iron content), anemia blood pressure (high in potassium but low in salt). It reduces the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
I wish to add more to the discussion on eating banana.
Banana not only neutralizes over acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach, it also helps people trying to give up smoking. the fruit contains vitamins B6, B12 as well as potassium and magnesium which helps the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Banana is said to calm the stomach and with some honey and milk added to it, it can build up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
I used to believe that banana has a lot of calories. 1 banana = 108 calories. I would think that this is a good alternative though to other food or snacks.
Too bad I can't tolerate bananas. I can eat only a bite or two, more than that and my gag reflexes kick in already. I still prefer apples over bananas. They're easier on the taste buds and contain more nutrients. At least that's what I remember from health class. Agree? Disagree?
Too much potassium can cause gout problems. We must limit our banana intake.[/quot
I've never heard of " too much potassium causing gout ".
Gout is caused by an excess of uric acid in the body. Uric acid results from the breakdown of purines. Purines are part of all human tissue and found in many foods. The excess can be caused by either an over-production of uric acid by the body or the under-elimination of uric acid by the kidneys. Also, the ingestion of foods high in purines can raise uric acid levels in the blood and precipitate gout attacks in some people.
Too much potassium can cause kidney and heart problems. That’s why doctors are prescribing to eat just 1 banana per day to get the sufficient potassium in the body.
