Yes, it’s a true food for the brain. Reading is good can give you current information and improve your grammar and reading skills.

This could also improve your grammar and writing skills. If you’re an avid book reader, this could help a person to write their own book.

I hate to see those children who just search the key topics and don’t read the whole story of the information. Nowadays children won’t read a book they just play video games.

That is where the parents should step in. My grandchildren live with me and we have a dedicated one hour just for reading. Their ages are 3 yrs, 5 yrs & 6 yrs old. I read to them and they read to me and then we discuss the story and tell what we found to be most and least interesting or what we would have done differently. I think if you challenge the young ones mind they will be more apt to read especially starting at a young age. They love going to the library and checking out books.

That’s a good practice. Children’s nowadays get addicted to internet and they already avoid reading books. You’re a great grandmother.

Thank you, I appreciate the comment.
That is so true about being addicted to the internet at an early age. There are so many fascinating things that can be found surfing the net. The two oldest ones are restricted 30 min - an hour. They play games on Nick Jr & PBS Kids, but they are educational so I don't mind.

You can also guide them in using the computer but not the internet. Just install some child friendly games or activities on your computer so that your grandchild would be expose to the machine but not the internet.

My grandchildren have discovered the wonderful world of v-smile and playstation and the same rules apply. They are only allowed an hour each. My grandson uses his time in 15-20 min intervals. In between time he is outside or doing other things.

That's good being a good grandparent for your grandchildren. It's best for them to have some outdoor activity like you're doing with them.
