Probiotic food contains live bacteria considered beneficial and not harmful to humans. It helps you live longer and fortify your immune system. Probiotic food like yogurt is made by the natural bacterial fermentation of milk.

I would like to add a little more to what my esteemed forum member has stated. In fact, consumption of probiotic food wards off diarrhea and constipation and lessen the effects of lactose intolerance. According to one study, women who ate probiotic packed diary foods at least three times per week suffered nearly 80 per cent fewer urinary tract infections than women who ate them once a week or less.

The food that gives pre and pro biotic is yogurt. Yogurt gives good bacteria in our stomach to help digest food and maintain the enzyme level.

Where does yogurt made from? It’s from milk. You can drink milk everyday as your source of good bacteria.

I think all dairy products have pre and pro biotics. These are really good for us especially when digesting food.

Most of the reply here says milk and yogurt has probiotic. Do you know there are some foods that have probiotic aside from dairy product? One type of food is miso soup. It has these live bacteria that can help digest food properly.

Therefore soya also contains pre and pro biotics or they only contain these bacteria if they are processed?

If you didn’t notice all of these products are pasteurized. When soya milk and cow’s milk is pasteurized the bacteria that has been created on the process are called pro and pre biotics.

Oh now I see the picture. When soya and milk are processed, that’s the only time it will have this bacteria.

Yes, it's definitely from soya. I'm drinking this since I was a kid and it really helps me digest properly.

Hi

Probiotics can be classified as a set of functional food which has live bacteria that are beneficial and not harmful to the human beings. The first ever probiotic food introduced was adding acidophilus to the milk, this helped people develop better tolerance towards milk and also helped people who found it difficult to digest milk. Majority of the probiotic food available in the market is fermented partially. Food items that contain probiotic bacteria are mainly dairy products such as probiotic added fluid milk and yogurt.

List of food sources that contains probiotics

* Few types of soft cheese

* Miso soup

* Products of yoghurt like kefir, sauerkraut etc

* Few types of pickles

* Tempeh - fermented soy

* Buttermilk and other fermented food

Thanks
Have a nice time ahead.
