Leukemia is a cancer of the blodd and bone. This disease requires close monitoring by an oncologist. There is no known ways to prevent most types of Leukemia. Researchers will continue to look for risk factors and advise people on the benefits of healthy lifestyle.

Sorry to hear about your cousin. :(

Leukemia is a condition where the bone marrow produces immature white blood cells. One known treatment for it is bone marrow transplant, but of course this is very difficult, considering that you have to find the perfect match to avoid transplant rejection. Plus it is also downright expensive.

Which is more dangerous - an adult diagnosed with leukemia or a child diagnosed with leukemia? Is there any difference at all?

It is an operation for leukaemia-infected patient, but it doesn't have a 100% chance that you will be cured. Some leukaemia infected people undergo bone marrow transplant and it would only be successful if the body will accept the bone marrow.

There are 2 options on how to treat leukemia which are chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. Patients can undergo up to 8-9 sessions of chemotherapy but if the cancer is not treated that way, and then doctors go for a bone marrow transplant.

Jim, I’m sorry to hear about your cousin. Most doctors test the bone marrow to the patients if their body will take it or not. This is a very critical operation and takes a lot of risk for the outcome.

Jim, I know what you feel now. I have the same story it’s my nephew who has leukemia. He underwent bone marrow transplant but his body didn’t react to the new bone marrow and passed away after 3 days of the operation.

I have read about this book on leukemia and it says there that chemo and bone marrow transplant are the treatments for this disease. It is also written there that there is a minimal chance of survival if you have been given bone marrow transplant.

Aside from chemo and bone marrow transplant, is there any other treatment for leukemia?
