2. Everyone Needs Eight Glasses of Water…Every Day – There has never been a study or a medical conclusion that this is true. In fact, the only that even comes close is a recommendation from 1945 telling people to drink 8 glasses of fluid every day. The truth is that everything from fruits to vegetables can comprise those fluids. Just be aware that many fluids are actually detrimental – things such as coffee are diuretics and will take fluids away from your body.

Yes the fluids from fruits and veggies can be part of the amount of fluid we need everyday. I think we can have as much as 10 glasses because hydrating our body is good and can yield many benefits. It can also reduce our appetite.

3. Reading in the Dark is Bad for Your Eyes – Dim light doesn’t hurt your eyes and there is not medical link stating otherwise. The worst you will experience is a bit of temporary weakening in your acuity.

Wow. I did believe this. Because my mother always said this to me on those days when i'd want to snuggle up with a novel. And I believed it even more when I got my glasses at 16.

Does this mean that cellphones are actually not causing any interference in a plane? Or in a gas station?

From what I understand, we get a substantial amount of fluid from fruits and vegetables we eat?

The typical diet doesn't include enough veggies and fruits to begin with, so I wouldn't say it's substantial (across the board anyway.) I drink water throughout the day -- I feel better doing so. While the article states it's a myth, it's probably still a good idea for most people to drink up since we tend to not drink that much water anyway, and tons of our typical foods are processed.

Is it true that there are long term effects when you always read when lights are dim?

I do drink a lot of water but I don’t like the feeling of always going back to the toilet to urinate. I feel like the water that I drink just go to waste. How much amount of water do the body really absorbs and dispose?

9. Every Seven Seconds Men Are Thinking About Sex – This is a bit overblown, especially considering it is impossible to measure any sort of topical thinking by an individual let alone an entire sex of individuals. This is generally just a joke that some people have started to take a little too seriously.

This is indeed a joke. They cant even last very long. Some of them may think about it a lot but once they get satisfied, they're out. They'll think about it again after a couple of days....or longer.

Well, joni, I hate to say this because I'm a man. But you're right. It's not like we make love to our woman all night. So we cant be thinking about it every seven seconds. That's a maniac! We have other things to think about too....like drinking out, sports, and online gaming for some.

slitherine, i hate to break it to you. Hairy men will remain hairy and men with sparse hair will stay that way no matter how much or how often you shave.

6. Cell Phones in Hospitals are Dangerous – There are no links saying this is true. In fact, there have only been a few anomalous studies showing any link between cell phones and equipment problems. The truth is that most doctors greatly benefit from having cell phones with them for quicker, more accurate communication. They save lives.

I thought they're causing some radiation that's why we're not allowed to use them. Arent they causing some interference or something?

1. People Only Use One-Tenth of Their Brains – This is a common myth that people hear repeatedly on television, in books, and from each other. The truth is that when scans of the brain are done, there are no dormant sectors – every individual cell and neuron is often active and firing. What probably happened with this myth is that someone thought telling people they weren’t tapping all of their potential would help sell a bogus medicine or two.

This is so funny cause I used to read this everywhere! once something logical gets out (even if its not true) it spreads like wildfire!!

Men do not think about sex that often. Even I who have had a number of girlfriends in my lifetime don't.

The man who thinks he's macho and says he does think of sex every 7 seconds is making a joke. This myth is busted!

I do think drinking that amount of water helps your body though, maybe that much isn't absolutely necessary but it's good for the body.

I've found that in some instances a person SHOULD NOT drink a lot of water each day. Here's why: If the kidneys have low vital energies, drinking too much water can drive the kidneys and do harm.

It's all about RELEVANCY and RELATIVITY!
