I know most peoples veins are visible to a degree on their arms...but mine are visible on my legs, it's not bad now but I'm worried it will get worse. Is there any way of slowing this process down? (non invasive please) like creams, or medication or anything!

I think you're talking about varicrose veins, they're basically veins that have become enlarged or twisted. Now the problem varies in how extreme it is, sometimes it can be as bad as:

However that's very rare, so don't worry catalyst. If you think they're bad, then go to your doctors..maybe there's something wrong with your circulation? If you have pale skin maybe that's why, a tan would solve the problem!

A tan may not help esp if you really have very light skin. Ask your doctor about it. But theres probably nothing wrong and maybe no one notices.

My Moms got varicose veins- enlarged & gnarly ones, on her calves and I know they can get painful and itchy as well. They can occur anywhere but you usually see it on your legs as the pressure on the veins in your lower body is greater while standing or walking.

There are procedures to close or remove these if you choose to do so.

Here are some tips that are very helpful in slowing and to prevent the progression of varicose veins:

1. You need to loose your weight
2. Use compression stockings
3. regular exercise
4. Do not wear tight clothes
5. Avoid standing or sitting on a long period of time
6. Elevating your legs

Allister - you need a lot of them to remove the veins. I know there are creams that can remove varicose veins but if you are talking about veins on your hand, they are difficult to remove.

I saw this ad on TV saying that surgery can remove visible veins in the hands and feet. This is classified in cosmetic surgery.

Those cosmetic creams don’t work at all. It’s hard to remove those veins in the hands or feet. You can, but it would be painful and expensive by undergoing surgery.

I think surgery is not the answer for this. Those visible veins are blood vessel and if you remove them it might cause some problems on your hands and feet.
