CureYourBody.com is excited to announce the launch of
its new forums. The next several months will be critical to setting up the
forums the way you want them to be. So
if you feel we should add more categories or sub forums, please let us know.
We'll add sub forums on our own as well, if we feel a
large number of posts are being made on a specific topic. For example, "Colon Cleansing" was added as a sub forum to the Gastroenterology forum since there seems
to be a lot of posts for that specific subject.
Actually, the low-carb diet has been continuously vindicated by research suggesting it to be superior to low-fat regimes of yesteryear which were brought on by nothing more than an agricultural industry looking to push grains (see Food Guide Pyramid debacle for more).
The Annals of Internal Medicine just published an article regarding longer term safety of the diet (2 year study) and we have known for ages that cholesterol actually responds better to low-carb diets. Even saturated fats have gotten some vindication as of late.
Now, the diet is all that bad, but it does have some flaws - like calorie counts not being accounted for, etc... This is just not ideal in any way shape or form. Atkins is only the first to make main stream, however, many authors suggested low-carb regimes long before Atkins ever dreamed up copying the idea.
Anyone here actually want to strive for the body of the late Robert Atkins anyway?
Not really, mcavoy. They are designed for people who have hypertension ad heart problems. The Atkins diet plan is always compared to a vegetarian diet because of the foods in the menu.
Atkins and DASH diet is not exactly the same but they are good to people with hypertension and thyroid problems. Atkins diet helps people change their metabolism while the DASH diet helps to lower down cholesterol and hypertension.
