Say I were to work out in the evening how would that make my food intake different? and also, does protein shakes speed up weight loss or what? sorry I'm just intrigued 
Fasting would just lead to snacking in my books!
It wouldnt necessarily make your food intake different......i just want my protein shake to be my meal, 2 hours before I touch the weights as it is easier on the body to breakdown, so I alternate the whole meal and protein shakes accordingly to fit my workout schedule for the day
i wouldnt necessarily say protein shakes will speed up weight loss (as protein >>> carbs)
As you have to remember: the diet plan needs to compliment the workout plan and vice versa
