I'm in the process of losing weight and it really isn't going too badly, however when I go walking I'd like to try something different, maybe to help boost my self esteem so see how many steps I've taken so it'll make me walk further..kinda like when you step on the scales and see you've dropped a couple of lbs!

Has anyone tried a stepometer and where can I get one from? thanks.

Now I couldn't tell you very much about prices and whether it works or not, but it looks to be good. You should shop around online and read some reviews, but they look pretty good.

I didn't think these things were that popular - how much are they priced at roughly? I remember trying one years ago, I think I got it out of a free mc donalds or something, but it wasn't too good LOL. Wouldn't want to spend lots of $ on one though.

I got mine free with purchasing a calcium supplement. Yep its a bit encouraging. But once youve lost a considerable amount of weight, your motivation will already come from the way you look.

Go for something cheap and middle of the road, there's no point splurging on a product that will perform the same as a cheaper version. Anyway, just walk a lot more..walk instead of driving/transport..take the stairs, that sort of thing - I can see how the stepometer would make you feel better though!

Stepometer is also known as pedometer. It counts steps, and it has a reset button to press when you want to set it to zero again. In using it, you should aim to increase your daily steps by 2000 more a day to maintain weight, more to lose weight. If you are fond of using gadgets, go for it. Otherwise, walking is the best. If counting steps is tedious, then go for this gadget.

In the pedometer, how many steps are needed for a full exercise in a day?

10,000 steps. That's a lot of steps and I definitely need a stepometer to count up to 10,000. smile

That’s already proven for exercising and strengthening the bones. You don’t need stepometers just walk for an hour or 2 then you already consume 10,000 steps.

10,000 steps that’s a lot. I think 1 hour of jogging can accommodate 10,000 steps

Yes, that's correct. Jogging and walking for an hour can accommodate that amount of steps.

You could always try to vary it up some with some sprints mixed up with your walking. Just pick a moment and run as fast as you can - I try to race my dog. Then I can't go anymore and walk to catch my breath. It's actually exhilirating. Makes me proud that I still have something in me. I can only do maybe a hundred yards. But makes me happy. Then I do it again a few times. Same time walked/sprint, but you burn more calories/fat that way.

Hello friends

A step-o-meter or step counter does just what it says, it counts the number of steps that you take each day. It has no fiddly buttons, you don’t need to work out how long your stride is and it won’t tell you the time or how many calories you have used – if that is what you need to know – then buy yourself a pedometer, but what it will do is count your steps.
A step-o-meter just fits on the waistband of your trousers or skirt and each time you move your hip to walk a step, then it records that movement as a step. Try it out, walk across the room counting your steps and see if your total matches the one on your step-o-meter. If it doesn’t then try moving your step-o-meter to your other hip, making sure it is located right above the hip joint.

Thanks for all friends
Have a nice day

The best pedometers give you various stats like average speed, calories burned etc. I've been using it for couple of years, just to be sure I'm active enough.
