A friend of mine recommends this supplement for iron deficiency anemia, as she has tried several others that did not agree with her: http://www.greatearth.com/search.html?searchword=iron.

She says - I’ll know how effective it is in a few weeks when I get retested. I think it is working because the heart palpitations have stopped and my energy level has improved.

Some alternative methods for iron deficiency anemia could be the following:

a. Using goats' milk instead of cows' milk.
b. Gluten-free diet resolves some instances of iron-deficiency anemia.

In addition, If the cause is dietary iron deficiency, iron supplements, usually with iron (II) sulfate, ferrous gluconate, or iron amino acid chelate, will usually correct the anemia.

Dairy can block the absorption of iron.

If you are celiac, eating gluten can cause you to be anemic. My friend had herself tested and so far it looks like she is not celiac.

She has tried many, many iron supplements and most do not agree with her - they cause stomach problems, heartburn, or other problems or they just don't work. But this new supplement seems to agree with her and she has read on another forum where others say they like it.

Hello, I've more iron than I need in my blood. Maybe I can give you some smile
The weird thing is that my supplement contains only 20% of the RDA of iron, yet I'm at around 125%. Maybe if I tell you what I eat you can catch up. I take a multivitamin supplement everyday, I put olive oil on almost everything I eat, I eat canned tuna, I rarely drink cow's milk, I eat rice, pasta, spaghetti, then loads of salad everyday, and I do eat low fat cow yoghurt almost everyday.

Yes, Vitamin C helps you to absorb iron. So, the reverse is also true. If your iron levels ever get too high, then cut back on the Vitamin C.

We may consider this as a side effect of drinking too much vitamin c. If we are losing iron then it may something to do with the vitamin C that we are taking.

Really? Many people say that glutathione can whiter skin but it has a different effect on you. Good for you if you can sleep well when taking glutathione.

It depends on if you are low on iron or high. They have found too high levels of iron are bad for the heart. But too low levels are very bad also. If you are low on iron or just trying to maintain your levels, then vitamin C & iron are a good combo.

Consult your physician either way, high or low iron there may be other problems that vitamin C may not take care of.

The causes of iron deficiency are too little iron in the diet, poor absorption of iron by the body, and loss of blood (including from heavy menstrual bleeding ). It can also be related to lead poisoning in children.

In men and postmenopausal women, anemia is usually caused by gastrointestinal blood loss associated with ulcers , the use of aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS), or certain types of cancer (esophagus, stomach, colon).

Aplastic anemia is a type of anemia, which is a condition in which your blood has a lower than normal number of red blood cells.
Aplastic anemia may also cause low platelets. Aplastic anemia is a blood disorder that causes the body to stop making enough new blood cells.
