Hey everyone!

I've just started walking everyday. I keep a journal to monitor my walking times. I decided to do this because it prevents many types of diseases, aside from helping weight management. It prevents diabetes, breast cancer and heart problems. It strengthens the heart and controls the blood pressure. Plus, you'll feel more energized throughout the day!

What about you? Have you considered walking as a regular exercise?

Yes, I've been walking for 5 months now and I can see the results. I've lost weight and toned my body. Try terrain that's a little rugged so you can exert more effort. Increase your speed a llittle, too, to increase your heart rate.

i think walking would be the best exercise type for me. by doing this, I can take my baby around while he's on a stroller. at the same time, i'll be able to run errands with physical exertion.

i hope i lose weight really soon!

Walk to short distances where you normally drive to. 10 to 15 minute brisk walks are good and not so time-consuming.

Yes. Even little things, such as parking your car further away than you have to or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, can have an impact on your weight loss and health program. I also try to walk every day on my lunch break. I don't have a lot of time, but every little bit counts, and I can honestly say I really can see the results!

Grab a cheap pedometer, and try to get in as many steps as you can a day. For the average woman, 2,000 steps equal about a mile, and you should aim for 10,000 a day (work up to it, or you'll be one sore mama!) to lose weight. I found that I'd pace on purpose while waiting in line just to rack up more steps - it kind of turned into a game...which reminds me that I'd better start doing it again!

walking is a great exercise, you will surely start feeling stronger and sleeping better. Even medically walking is known to reduce the risk of heart diseases, ,improve your muscle tone, lower blood pressure, cholesterol, risk of stroke, and risk of injury.

It is also a lot more fun if you can find a walking partner. Like Vicky has with her baby. Even a dog can help.

I absolutely agree to take on a walking partner. One thing though, is that walking is not so much of a fat burner, as running and swimming are. Don't forget to reduce your food intake as well, if you want to see some phisical difference.

There is definitely some good advice here! I got out my pedometer and found that I was only walking an average of 3000 steps a day - now I have a goal of 6000 for the next week, and then I'll try to bump it to 10,000.

Is it already considered if you are walking when going to the office everyday? Even if that is the only exercise you do?

Walking is an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise provided you raise your heart rate and do it on a regular basis. It's a great low-stress exercise that's easy on your joints especially on the kness.

Yes, that is the thing you need to remember that drink plenty of water while walking or running. It shows that when you sweat you lose lots of water and it needs to be replenished to avoid dehydration.

Walking is also a good exercise for patients that have osteoarthritis. It is a good cardiovascular exercise and it has a low risk on joint pain.

Yes, John is correct. Walking is a low impact of exercise. It can tone your lower body and good cardiovascular routine.

If I’m walking everyday going to my office, is that an exercise for the day?
