Has anyone tried this diet? My girlfriend wants to start it but I'm a bit worried because she has never dieted before, in my eyes i think she looks perfect and beautiful but being a typical woman she wants to look better! she mentioned cooking fries (like eggs, bacon..) for breakfast as part of the diet? is this correct? it sounds a bit strange, i just want to know what she's getting herself into so i can support her and help her.

thanks everyone.

I know the south beach diet restricts the intake of carbs, well the bad ones, because 'good carbs' are allowed (now don't ask me what this is, I hear this from my female friends). The south beach diet makes its dieters say bye bye to corn, beets, carrots, rice, pasta, bread, cereal, fruit and potatoes. Sounds a bit nasty to me, no fruit I mean what?? Anyway apparently it bans unhealthy fats but highly recommends the healthy fats. This diet looks at how much sugar is in one carb, so low sugar cars are good.

That's about it, I think it is pretty safe unlike the Atkins and I know quite a few people who have lost a lot of weight on it. All about sticking to the plan though

I always wiki things off this site, it's amazing how much you can learn through this community - I didn't know half of the diets about until now!! It looks to be pretty safe though, I've a neighbour that was on the diet for about half a year and lost loads - now she was a HUGGEE momma!!

It sounds like a safe enough diet, a lot of people are on the diet (well that I know)...and they are seeing results like 20lbs weight loss. I know some people that tried the Atkins and Gi diet and hated both of them, I think the three phase steps in the South Beach diet made it better.

I heard positive reviews about South Beach Diet and I also want to try it. I hope someone can share the recipes and meal plan from Phase I to III.
Thanks!

There are 3 pahses when doing the southbeach diet progam.

1st pahse. Do it up to 2 weeks. Eat things like steaks, chicken, hamburger, all sorts of meats, cheeses, vegetables, eggs. No sugar or bread or pasta.

2nd phase. After 2 weeks do this phase for another 2 weeks. Still the same food but add fruits and things that are very low in sugar.

3rd phase. Do this for another 2 weeks. Which is eating things that are low in carbs and pretty much eat the things that are healthy for you.

There is 3 pahses in the southbeach diet program. But can you skip the phases or stages during the diet plan?

Nope you cannot skip the phases on these diet plan. Because it like levelling. Once you acomplish one level you have to move on to lev 2 you cannot do from lev 1 to lev 3 rapidly you have to finish lev 2. Thats why it is call a diet plan.

Yes southbeach diet really works. I have seen people used this type of diet plan and the result was staggering. You loose fats and unwanted weight and still your body is healthy. But one factor of this that the foods onthe list is quite expensice. Can we replace food in the southbeach diet plan?

Here's a sample of a South Beach Diet meal that I got from Food Network: Two sticks of celery, peanut butter (organic if you can find it), one ripe organic pear and some green tea (organic tastes better and healthier) .

A friend of mine started this diet and was on it for approx. 4 mos. Although he lost weight he said he felt hungry and at times had difficulty fighting the urge to indulge. He is no longer on the diet and has gained some of his weight back. He continues to exercise and watch his food intake.

Same thing happened to my friend who has vowed not to try that again.

I heard a success story about this diet. It helped my cousin lose 20 pounds in 4 months by doing this diet. I was surprised of the outcome and might start with this diet plan.

I have read and heard so many successes in this diet plan. That’s why it encourages me to research it to the internet for the necessary food for the diet.

This is a strict diet plan that you have to follow. It has 3 phases and you cannot skip a phase and meal on this program.

I think this is one of the safest form of diet to loose weight, but of course any form of diet should be accompanied with exercise and work out to get the best result.

My sister's friend already did this. She lost almost 50lbs in 3 months. Exercise and diet is one good combination in cutting those extra fat out.
