CureYourBody.com is excited to announce the launch of
its new forums. The next several months will be critical to setting up the
forums the way you want them to be. So
if you feel we should add more categories or sub forums, please let us know.
We'll add sub forums on our own as well, if we feel a
large number of posts are being made on a specific topic. For example, "Colon Cleansing" was added as a sub forum to the Gastroenterology forum since there seems
to be a lot of posts for that specific subject.
yes yes and yes! we need calcium, milk is great..and you'll find it in so many recipes, in moderation yes it is great, that is the key, but too much milk isn't necessary. if you are on a diet you could buy semi-skimmed milk instead of full skimmed so it contains less fat.
Grace of Gods, do you not drink milk at all? no cereals? it's not 100% i would say, as lactose intolerant sufferers can't enjoy milk, cheese etc but it still helps in a diet - key is, in moderation!
Sure you should drink milk. As we get older, we need the calcium in our bones so we don't become weak and brittle. Choose milk that is non-fat, though. If your tummy can take it and you don't have gastro issues with milk, then you should definitely drink up.
Heres a few things to ponder on
Bovine milk causes sickness in the majority of the world's population.
Data show that calcium deficiency and osteoporosis rates are much lower in non-milk drinking countries than in industrialized milk-drinking nations.
Human consumption of cow's milk is a recent development in evolution. Pre-humans and human ancestors did not drink cow's milk. Early fossil evidence shows no signs of osteoporosis.
Yes I agree milk is a source of calcium and protein, but not the best source of absorbable calcium or protein there are other foods that are better.
Mammels usually drink their mothers milk until the have tripled their birth weight, we are mammels, triple birth weight is usually around one year, and yet here we are the only mammel (other than a house cat) who still consumes milk. Also I find it a little weird that so many people are allergic to cows milk, perhaps our bodies are tryign to tell us something.
IMO
PS, No I don't drink milk, at all, I drink rice milk in my cereal, and tea, and thats it:)
Some other things to be careful about with milk are the hormones and antibiotics that are given to the cows, same concerns as with beef.
Another argument that I hear many times is that the pasteurizaton process actually kills most of the beneficial enzymes in the milk. Those people tend to get their milk from co-ops.
There are some really interesting articles out there, but the bottom line is, you do not need milk, why are we all so brain washed into thinking that we do? OOOOOO YESSS because the dairy industry is a billion dollar industry that can afford to advertise their product like no other food company, Famous catch phrase
"got milk" IS EVERYWHERE, celebrity endorsed and evreything, if it was really that good for us, I doubt there would be so much advertising, Anyone ever see a "got brocolli" ad????HMMM go figure,
Milk for my coffee and ice cream, that's about it. As a supplement for your diet, I don't think its a real good idea. But if you like it, why not? I just don't think drinking milk is a prerequisite to health. If you are worried about osteoporosis, take calcium tablets.

you make a good point!
i drink quite a bit of milk, probably too much. i love it though, but after reading this i maybe should cut down a little bit.
Milk is a good source of calcium, vitamin E, and important minerals like magnesium, zinc and potassium. Taking milk in moderation can help prevent Osteoporosis and heart disease. But, drinking milk in excess is not recommended.
I'm a milk lover too but you can get your calcium elsewhere. My wife gets her calcium from sardines. She's the only one in the family who likes them. The fish bone is the source of calcium. Anyway, you can get it from calcium tabs ... although you have to consult your doctor about the dosage. It could lead to renal stones.
Milk contains all the vitamins required by mammals. Milk can be described as one of the most nutritionally complete foods available. The U.S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend drinking 3 glasses of low fat milk each day.
Not such a wrong question to ask, if you read the article on the main page of Cureyourbody.com where Caroline Cardenas says that Milk today isn't milk anymore.
Scary when you think of it
