I read about this woman whose husband's stroke was related to snoring. This is why I'm worried because my husband snores every night and there are times when I thought he had stopped snoring, only to be jolted by him snoring suddenly and even louder. I know that snoring means the breathing is obstructed. Could he be at risk also?

Snoring can be a cause for worry. Since breath is obstructed, some thing is wrong. This needs to be consulted with the doctor. It could be sleep apnea. Regular exercise and abstaining from smoking will help lessen the snoring.

Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. Normally, snoring is recognized by a friend or partner while the patient is sleeping. Treatments for snoring revolve around clearing the blockage in the breathing passage. This is the reason snorers are advised to lose weight, and stop smoking. If snoring is loud and uncontrollable, it does become scary for the partners especially during nights.

Thanks. our family doctor advised daily exercise for John.

Personally, I think I need to wake him up when he snores.

This sounds strange but my 34 year old husband and my 5 year old son snore, unless i am very tired, i can ignore them, it doesn't bother me much but i am curious why. My son is hyperactive and my husband is into a lot of sports. I wonder if snoring is related to physical exhaustion. Unlike them, i don't snore and i just sit in front of my computer most of the time. suspicious

Snoring affects more than just those who have to hear it. Researchers theorise that snoring could signal breathing problems that disturb sleep. Snoring is likely to result in behaviour problems also at a later stage.
