CureYourBody.com is excited to announce the launch of
its new forums. The next several months will be critical to setting up the
forums the way you want them to be. So
if you feel we should add more categories or sub forums, please let us know.
We'll add sub forums on our own as well, if we feel a
large number of posts are being made on a specific topic. For example, "Colon Cleansing" was added as a sub forum to the Gastroenterology forum since there seems
to be a lot of posts for that specific subject.
Does anyone knows how to control the oil in the face?
I really have an oily face and I want to get rid of it. I'm using Proactiv and it helps but I really want to know the real
cause of this so I can stop or control it.
An oily skin can be caused by your diet that might be rich in fatty/oily foods. This diet activates your sebaceous glands. Using bar soap that dries the skin can also be the culprit which makes the skin compensate by producing oil.
A change in the diet can improve it tremendously. You can also use a weekly face mask or maybe even two or three times a week if necessary.
And try cleansing your face in the middle of the day if you also perspire a lot in hot weather as that will help keep your face cleaner.
I too, had oily face most of my life. Your problem sounds like it is an internal problem, not external. See a dermatologist right away. When I was 35 I finally took that step and was treated with Sulphonated surfactant blend of vegetable oil. It is very potent and has some side effects, but it is a "permanent" solution. It changes the oils within your body. It cleared me up after 2 cycles of treatments.
This may sound weird but here's what reduced the oiliness of my face. I went to the sauna at my gym. As a result, the oils on my face came out thru sweat. Then, I noticed that I'm not as oily anymore.
I don't have an oily face. Mine is actually dry. But friends of mine whose faces are oil took fish oil supplements. They also drink around 10-12 glasses of water a day. This keeps your skin moisturized. Oily skin happens when the skin is dry and compensates for the dryness by producing more oil.
Oily skin is actually dry but secretes more oil to make up for the dehydration of the skin. You need to moisturize moisturize moisturize. Cleanse your face but do not wash it more than 3 times daily. This will make the skin drier and, as a result, more oily. Don't use soaps with additives and unnecessary chemicals. Avoid toners with alcohol.
Take care not to use any cosmetic on your face that's oil-based. There are non-comedogenic cleansers out there. But choose those that are for oily skin.
Non-comedogenic means they don't block pores and therefore decrease the likelihood of pimples..
I have an oily face especially on the t-zone area. It’s hard looking for an effective foundation that doesn’t just come off due to it. And, I use acne control and it works perfectly. I don’t know if any of these might be the cause of my problem. Any advice on how to control it?
try tea tree oil, now I don't know very much about makeup but I use australian tea tree oil because I used to have a very greasy face too and it really was embarrassing. Have you tried it before? I use facewipes too (how metrosexual! LOL), and they are tea tree oil too and they work amazing for a quick brush over my face!
What sort of foundation are you using? it could be irritating your skin, avoiding foundations with SPF or any oil in them..go to a department store makeup counter like Mac or something and ask for some help, also look for a matte foundation...or try a mousse one, like the maybelline mousse one because they stay on for ages and also dry the skin out a little which would be a good thing in your case.
When washing your face use hot water because hot water dissolves skin oil better than cold water. You can also try mineral make up and be very careful in choosing skin care products that will make your skin dehydrated.
One advantage of oily face is that aging is delayed. That's nice stuff to hear. However, to overcome oily face, you need to wash your face three to four times a day. But, don't overdo. Use hot water because it dissolves skin oil much better than lukewarm or cold water. Consume plenty of leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Avoid alcohol, fatty food, chocolates, ice cream, sugar etc. Go for regular walk and do aerobic exercises.
Oil blotting paper is an easy and instant way to remove excess oil on your forehead, nose and chin where it shines the most even with make up. It comes in fruit flavor and perfect in your purse or makeup bag, so don't leave home without it. Stay pretty!
It seems the prevalent advice on this page is to wash your face more than twice a day and use hot water, This is something i would STONGLY advise AGAINST. Hot water will dry out your skin, as will washing it more often, your skin will simply trigger more oil production to compensate for the extra stress you are putting on it.
To dissolve the oil, I would recommend a pre-cleanser like Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse or DHC Deep Cleansing Oil before washing, these are oil-soluble as opposed to water soluble like most cleansers, and therefore will interact with your sebum rather than stay seperate (we all know water and oil dont mix!). whatever cleanser and moisturiser you use, just remember that skin being CLEAN and skin being DRY might both be free of oil, but the former will stay that way whereas the latter will come back with an oily revenge.
Blotters, oil-free moisturisers with sebum-absorbers, gentle exfoliation (like that from AHA's) and clay masks are the good way to go. and I agree that diet is a factor aswell, high GI foods and fatty foods will make you more oily. but dont let that stop you from eating the good fats!
Dust and sweat can also cause oiliness. You should wash your face 3x a day with a facial wash. Yes, Danica is correct, also avoid chocolates and peanuts.
Yes, I have read that before. It helps detoxify our skin by removing the toxins by the sweat that we secrete during exercise. If you are not fun of exercising, then just think it’s good for your skin.
I guess we must avoid eating fatty food, chocolates and peanuts to avoid getting oily face. Try to detoxify every week to remove excess oils and toxins.
I have already eliminated eating peanuts, chocolate and fatty food and even tried exercising still my face is still oily. What suggestion can you give me?
Make sure you pick the essential products that can only treat oiliness on the face. If you are not sure of the product, consult a dermatologist for better result.
Wash with a cleanser containing glycolic acid because it would help regulate facial oil. And when you wash your face, use warm water instead of tap water because it washes off oil more effectively.
I Am Always Wash My Face With Warm Water! But After Sometime My Face Turned Again Into Oily Form.Isn't There A Permanent Solution.I A Really Upset About That!
