My mom was diagnosed with Tuberculosis after a blood test. It wasn't in her lungs, however. My dad was also diagnosed with Tuberculosis, but in his case it was in the lungs.
Anyhow, my mom got really sick, but my dad wasn't affected at all. I am curious as to where my mom's tuberculosis might have been in her body.
My dad is non-contagious nowadays and he coughs a lot because of the lesions. He is required to get a chest X-Ray each year for his employment to show that the lesions are the same. My mother is required to get the X-Ray as well although nothing shows up on it.
I'm hoping someone can be of help, because I am so curious as to where my mom's TB was located in her body. She lost a lot of weight and got night sweats if that helps.

Wow, sorry to hear that both your folks suffer from TB. Have you been tested to make sure you are clear?

yes, I will agree with dcgirl in this regard. Go for a test right away, even though the x-rays are not showing anything. Your description is proving that the condition is worsening by the day. Lets see, probably it might still be in a curable stage..All the best buddy...

Melbel, they both have hit the nail on the head..Nothin can supplement the importance of a thorough check up. Probably, the scope of a better future might rest upon the result of the tests that are made on you.

I am so sorry to hear that. Don’t worry because tuberculosis is curable with proper medications.

I'm sorry to hear that, too. Well, the doctor should tell you where your mom's TB is located. There is such a thing as extrapulmonary tuberculosis, meaning it affects other parts of the body, like the bones, liver, etc. I think you should ask for more tests to be done. Also, TB is a curable disease, just take the prescribed antibiotics for a prescribed time (6 months usually), and don't stop even though you think the disease is improving. This is to avoid multi-drug resistance.

Tubercolosis is a disase that originated or it is with the lungs. It has a bacteria that formed in the lungs called tubercle bacilli. But I dont know any tubercolosis not in the lungs. For my opinion you should consult another doctor to test your mom.

Are the lungs the only organs that get infected if you have tuberculosis?

Definitely not. Tuberculosis can also affect the reproductive organs, the lymphatic system, the circulatory system, the urinary tract, the digestive tract, the bones and joints, the skin.

What type of infections does tubercolosis do to our reproductive system? Does it cause infertility?

Based on the research that I have done the TB on this post is for the lungs. There is specific tuberculosis that affects the reproductive system and this causes infertility to people infected with this disease.

Tuberculosis can be shown on an X-ray result. Doctors will diagnose the patient if they are frequently coughing and not recovering, then they do an X-ray test to see for TB.

The early signs of tuberculosis are loss of energy, poor appetite, fever, a productive cough and night sweats. If the person has these signs, it’s better to go to a doctor to give a proper check-up.
