CureYourBody.com is excited to announce the launch of
its new forums. The next several months will be critical to setting up the
forums the way you want them to be. So
if you feel we should add more categories or sub forums, please let us know.
We'll add sub forums on our own as well, if we feel a
large number of posts are being made on a specific topic. For example, "Colon Cleansing" was added as a sub forum to the Gastroenterology forum since there seems
to be a lot of posts for that specific subject.
I've started to notice my skin tone is uneven. I like the tone of my skin but I feel like it's not very even on my face, maybe this is due to breakouts that I occasionally have.
My skin is incredibly oily, so I'm forever washing and cleansing it. I would say I only get a few breakouts every month, they're usually white heads but because of this there is a lot of redness which has probably contributed to my uneven skin tone.
I really want my skin to look alive, more of a glow. I'm going to a dermatologist soon to get it sorted out but I would like to know what sort of things to suggest or ask for?
My skin really gets me down and is a major factor in why I lack so much confidence so any help here is greatly appreciated.
Well at least you're going to see a dermo, that's a good start because acne is pretty hard to get under control. If over the counter acne creams/medication don't work well then you know it's time to go see a dermatologist as you might need prescription drugs or cream to help.
Don't worry about your confidence, lots of people get post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (I for one was in your situation), it can take a long time to go away and some darker toned people can develop dark 'spots' once it heals.
I'd suggest making a list of all the over the counter products you use like facial cleansers, toners or whatever you use on a daily basis, as well as prescription medication for the problem too. Then show the list to your dermatologist, I assume you're not using makeup so no need for that.
Just let your dermatologist know that you are bothered by your skin tone and how it's getting you down, and they'll help - you should be acne clear in no time all being well.
^ A combination of factors, like diet, lifestyle, skin type and maybe even through genes. I know a lot of friends who inherit skin problems! Also sometimes skin products can aggravate your skin, as can the conditions your in i.e. hot weather + lots of makeup = clogging of pores and spots, maybe these don't all add up to acne but they can cause pretty bad spot problems.
I don't know if any of you have the same problem as I do. I hate that my elbows and knees are much darker than the skin on the rest of my body. I've tried a number of lightening lotions already but they don't seem to work on me. what would you advise so I can lighten the skin on my elbows and knees a bit?
hello xq. Yes i used them regularly but seeing no significant improvements, I stopped using these skin lighteners. I think regular exfoliation might be a good idea.
Also, you have to make sure you use sunscreen. Even with regular exfoliation and moisturizing, these areas will always have thicker, tougher skin. If you regularly use a UVA, UVB 30 sunblock every day, you will notice less pigment changes.
Honestly, is the condition really alarming? Apparently, I believe that this is caused by genetics. At the very least, you'll be seeing a dermatologist - you can go through treatments that can be done only by the experts.
