At the moment I'm currently doing about 1 hr of cardio every day, which is just running on the treadmill before I start weights which also lasts about 1 hr.

My goal is to lose weight through cardio while gaining muscle through lifting weights.

I just wanted to know if there's a limit on how much running or cardio should be done in one day? Should I change my cardio/running until after I do my weight routine? And also, if I do more cardio, will I lose fat and gain muscle?

Thanks for any help in advance,
Aconite.

You can do cardio and weight training, but as 'part' of a routine, so the cardio and weight training isn't the entire routine alone.

If it's the same day, then do the cardio after weight training (just IMO well), or you could alternate and simply have it on a day when you're not weight training.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with weight training and cardio being in a 'plan'.

If you want both, then fire up your plan dude!

Wow! That is a LOT of cardio over the course of a weeks time......i noticed in your signature that you are running in a marathon....is that why you are doing soo much running?

Well i believe you are contradicting yourself a little with your goal statement.....l believe what you meant to say was lose "fat" through cardio and gamin muscle through weightlifting no? In other words you are just worried how you look in the mirror and not necessarily on the scale....no?

What are you current stats? what type diet are you currently on? What is current split look like? ie Mon: Chest, Tuesday: legs....so on.....You say workout everyday.......when does your body recover?

Personally Im not sure I would do the cardio on the days that I lift (unless of course you possibly lift morning/cardio afternoon).....

Welcome to the forums....look forward to the interaction

glee, why do you feel that is a LOT of cardio? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I have always read that it takes a typical person 20 mins or so to burn the glucose from their bloodstream before the body switches over to burning fat. Is this no longer the case or proven incorrect?
