I never try Gastric Balloon but as far as I know it is effective to lost weight. It also improves the obesity mood, mobility and exercise capacity. There is also an improvement in blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol levels. The anatomy of the stomach is not altered and does not affect the absorption of food and nutrients through the intestines. So it is very important to look for a good surgeon to have a low risk procedure.

I was fitted with a gastric balloon though endoscopy last month.
I kind of feel like sharing my experience.
I managed to loss some 20 lbs in 2 weeks which I find incredible!
However, I did not feel any change in size maybe due to the bloating effect of the balloon in my stomach.

This is one expensive way to lose pounds. It will cost you around $16,000 - $17,000 for the surgery but the result is fantastic. A lot of people have shed off pounds when they have this surgery on their stomach.

Your stomach will be uneasy for the first few days. A Liquid diet is advised. Some have had vomiting but I didn't experience this. Other than that, antacids are advised to avoid any stomach ulcers. My doctor said if an ulcer were to form, it could be healed with antibiotics.

I had my gastric balloon installed over 8 months ago. I've lost over 120 lbs and now feel much more in in control of my eating habits. I think I'm an extremely positive example because after I lost the first 40+ lbs I started to work out and now I'm getting very athletic. My doctor says that I can leave the balloon in for a full 12 months and he's even had patients that left it in for over a year and it got digested and eliminated naturally. I'm tempted to do it this way to avoid the second endoscopy (which is no big deal really).

I had my gastric balloon done here where I am currently living in Colombia. It costs about US$3500 including everything, even a private nurse who watched over me the first few days after the procedure.

I'm trying to spread the word to other Americans that the gastric balloon works and is available so cheaply but it seems that when I look it up on the internet everything is in Europe. Hopefully I will be able to share this non-invasive bariatric surgery to people who want to lose weight but avoid scarring and life-long complications.

Where are you guys located?

That’s great, bobby. I was amazed about your story losing around 120 pounds. I thought that it will cost more than $5,000.

Hey thanks Michael! I'm still losing and hitting the gym like a nut. I feel like a super hero in comparison to my old life. It does cost more than $5,000 elsewhere but in Colombia, especially with the great exchange rate these days it's under $3500. Check out my website for more information and post a comment on my blog if you get a chance. Thanks again!

Bobby

Thanks for the kind words Alister! I'm kinda stuck at 220 right now but I'm building a lot of muscle so I hope to bulk up for a few more weeks and then cut down to 200 to show my new muscles off.

I’m just curious. This operation reduces the size of the stomach so that you will feel full and less food that you have eaten. Can it be operated back to its normal size?

No operation is required to return the stomach to its normal size because the balloon is temporarily placed inside the stomach and removed after at least 6 months.
