Potassium also helps to prevent a person getting blood cloth. Deficiency in potassium leads to heart problems, low red blood cells and hypertension.

I bought my father a digital blood pressure monitor that you only put on the wrist. It really works fine and gives accurate information.

I still prefer the old mercury type blood pressure monitor. Most of the digital type has a great chance of interference from other electronic devices like cell phones.

IMO, the reality is that human BP measurement errors persist regardless of the device used to obtain the reading. I have not heard of the digital manometers being susceptible to interference of any electronic devices. However, Mercury is toxic, persistent and bioaccumulable. What do you do if there is a mercury spill?

I have used a digital Blood Pressure Monitor to check the blood pressure of my father and subsequently my son tried send a message from his cellphone. The reading was obscured it was 220/160 and I was alarmed and asked my father if he feels pain at the back of his head or if he’s dizzy. He said no and I tried to measure it again and got a reading of 120/80 then I tried it again and it has the same result on my 2nd test. So, digital devices can have some interference with other devices.

That’s why doctors are still using mercury based blood pressure monitor or what they call old style blood pressure kit. When my father is using the digital monitor, he is measuring at least 2 readings to get the average of his blood pressure.

On the first place I don’t know how to use the old style blood pressure monitor and it really gives an accurate result. The digital type has some irregularities and I have read an article on the net saying that it really has interference from other electronic gadgets.

That’s why you need to take at least 3 tests to confirm the accurate result of your blood pressure. I still want to have the old style blood pressure monitors.

The new versions of digital blood pressure are already giving accurate result even if you test it once. Still we prefer to go to a clinic or to a professional to check our blood pressure.

I still go for old school. I’m using an aneroid type of blood pressure. It’s accurate and inexpensive than digital monitors. Plus, its environment friendly doesn’t have hazardous chemicals like mercury.
