I am hoping it will! today I am starting a new diet by not eating after 6pm. I will do this for 2 weeks and then keep you guys posted on how it went for me.

First of all, is this even healthy practice?

I would imagine it is because in arab cultures they do this at ramadan. Not eating from sunrise to sunset.

Since I was mostly someone that ate a lot more at night vs the day time I am trying to do this to lose somem excess fat around my waist and be six pack ready in 2 weeks(yes I dont have thatt much fat around my waist).

So I will re-post here in 2 weeks, wish me luck guys

First off, good luck on your experiment. I amire people who are willing to give something a try and see if it works for them.

That said, you've left out far too much data for anybody to answer whether this is healthy or not.

If you normally go to bed at 8pm, then not eating after 6pm isn't going to make much of a difference. I am just using 8pm as an example. How long will you be fasting for?

6pm isn't much of a fast in most circumstances.

Are you implementing any supplements during this time?

Are you currently working out, and will that change?

What does your diet consist of now?

There are tons of other questions, so you can see there are a lot of variables.

I've seen "health experts" on both ends of the fence, talking about eating beyond a certain time of the day. Some advise against it, others dont, while others say it doesn't matter and that is not what is important.

Two weeks to get a six pack is a lofty goal if you're not very, very close already. What's your body fat percentage -- do you know?

I hate to break this to you but unless the foods you were eating after 6, were putting you way over your calorie count, not eating after 6 will not increase your fat loss. If your body is not getting enough nutrients and calories it is not going to release fat stores to be metabolized.
I don`t know why so many people think that not eating for 1/2 the day is going to enhance their metabolic rate, it has the exact opposite effect.

Ah yes, the after-six diet. To be honest, I tried this before, and i found i got real hungry by midnight. I had low energy in the morning and my food craving really shot through the roof! On top of all that, I didn't shed a single pound! Granted I only tried this out for less than two weeks, but still, half-starving yourself and not seeing any gains is pretty depressing. I found a low carb diet combined with exercise and small to moderate food portions works best for me. I guess its all relative and depends on your body type and metabolism.

Just to add, I've read that most celebrities who suddenly became fit and buff ate six meals or more throughout the day. Some of the meals can be nuts or fruits, others a healthy smoothie. So no need to starve yourself really. Just eat small but frequent meals. And of course, do cardio and resistance training.

Are nuts not super crammed full of hidden calories though? Sorry I've never quite understood that!

Eat clean and unprocessed foods in frequent meals instead of starving yourself after 6. Try oatmeal and berries for breakfast. they provide the fiber. Snack on one slice of toast. Chicken salad for lunch. Afternoon snack should be fruit. For dinner, get some protein and veggies.

Yup I agree just reduce your portions. If you dont eat for that many hours, the next time you eat you'll be eating more than you normally do to compensate for the hunger. Will that work? I'd have to say I dont think so....

Instead of going for crash diets, it is useful to follow a sensible lifestyle, modified dietary habits, regular exercise and periodical medical check-ups. That will take care of your health in the long run. hello

I don't think this is healthy practice. But maybe you can try it for a couple of days to see its effect on your body and how you feel.

Considering it is almost 2 months since Mathew planned to do this, and as he hasn't posted back, I am assuming his plan hasn't worked. If you had achieved success you surely would be back here to share.

Well said. I agree completely.
