I guess it depends on what medication you use.

There are risks to the foetus if the mother has asthma, but research has shown that continuing your asthma medication during pregnancy is better that not using it at all.

A new study shows, infants and toddlers who attend day care are less likely than other children to develop asthma symptoms by age 5. Do you think daycare is definitely protective for every kid? My child has asthma, i wonder if early exposure to infections and germs helps protect against allergies and asthma. Any experience on this?

When my child starts to attend day care and preschool because he is an only child and he seems lonely if i will homeschool him or he will just play alone, i consulted his pediatrician and recommended flu vaccine. The flu shot is highly recommended for certain high-risk individuals who are more prone to flu complications, such as pneumonia. The higher risk includes adults and children 6 months and older with chronic heart or lung conditions including asthma and all children 6 to 23 months of age.

HI, Zinc fine, might want to combine with copper when using (often done w/arthritic symptoms).. One wonderful aspect of vit./herbal supplements is that even though you might use a supp. to target a specific condition or organ, naturally your whole body will benefit from its use.....consider garlic, ginger, vit C., coQ10 and on n on n on. How the heck can people insist on drugs when they can use herbs, more effectively, cheaper and safer???? The Iwantitrightnow attitude sure is immature and costly. Charles

If you or a loved one has asthma, it’s important to understand the many triggers or causes of asthma. Once you identify and reduce exposure to the specific triggers or causes of asthma, you can take an active role in controlling your asthma and reducing the frequency of asthma attacks. For example, if you find that allergies are the cause of your asthma, you may have allergic asthma. Being aware of allergies and avoiding them can significantly help in asthma prevention by reducing the frequency or severity of asthma attacks. Or if environmental pollution seems to cause your asthma, it’s important to stay indoors during periods of heavy air pollution. Try to find the specific triggers or causes of your asthma, and then plan to avoid these triggers and have better asthma control.

All mucous-forming foods such as dairy foods, chocolates, refined white flour bread , cakes, and white sugar are considered by naturopaths to be best avoided for all respiratory conditions and especially asthma. This is because excess mucous only serves to further block the airways and thus aggravate the condition.

There are generally two types of asthma: the extrinsic asthma and intrinsic asthma. The extrinsic one is triggered by allergens, while the intrinsic one has an unknown cause, usually due to a disease since this happens later in adult life. Of course, extrinsic asthma is easier to treat since you already know its cause.

Swimming is actually a good exercise for kids with asthma, though recent studies show that chlorinated pools can worsen asthma attacks, so you should avoid those pools. Just have your child's medicines ready, and let your child rest when he's tired.

Since asthma can be a response to allergies, you need to avoid foods that can trigger your asthma. This is on a case to case basis, but I also agree on jennyed since mucus-forming foods can really aggravate your child's condition.

To avoid asthma attack, avoid going to a smoky place, fumes, chemical cleaners, air fresheners, using bleach to wash your clothes, perfumes and fury pets. This list will go forever. Be careful about the places you go to and make sure that you always have inhaler meds with you.
