You can do that, but it's better to take melatonin as first-class aid instead.

Frequent flyers know this very well. Melatonin is great for frequent long distance travelers. This helps reduce jet lag by resetting your internal body clock. The circadian cycles that are responsible for sleep/wake cycles.

Darkstar, that is what I've heard so many times also from frequent flyers.

If your lucky enough to be in first class , you've got a great bed to help you sleep. Whenever I take flights over 6 hours I always take a sleeping pill and wake up refreshed in the other country. I've never taken melatonin though, I will certainly try that next time. Thanks!

Tough one. I generally pop a dramamine (the kind with sedatives) and sleep most of trip and when I get off, I try to keep the schedule of the time zone that I am in.

I normally try to sleep as much as possible, it helps to sleep on the flight..but I love to travel so I'm normally too excited. I would watch out when using sleeping pills as you don't want to be taking anything too strong and end up knocking yourself out for ages and having to be escorted off the plane - that would not be good.

Chewable tablet for motion sickness should be taken before the flight, instead of wondering around, go straight to bed after your travel, get a warm bath or eat a full meal, depends upon how sick you really feel.

How much melatonin are you supposed to take? Do you take it before you get on the plane? Is it a sedative of sorts, or what?

Drink lots of fluids during the flight but try to avoid coffee, alcohol or fizzy drinks. Eat high-protein, low-calorie meals and Melatonin is a must -try. I do the trans atlantic regularly and even at my age it works wonders
