How much Vit D do you recommend? I took 2000 a day advised by my doctor and had a blood draw and was found to be under the normal amount. As a result I've upped it to 3000 a day. Is it necessary to spread out the amount over the day for maximum absorption?
age 64, osteopenia by bone scan, I take calcium 2x a day which also contains 200 mg Vit D.

Research has suggested that the vitamin allows cells to use calcium and muscle fibers to develop and grow normally. It also helps the immune system to function efficiently. “Almost every cell in the body has receptors” for Vitamin D
400 IU for adults aged 51 to 70
600 IU for people over 70.
200 IU for all persons younger than 51

Hi NormaGold!
Hope you're having a great day today!

Did your doctor say what the your vitamin D blood level should be at?

I have read that Ideally your blood level of 25 OH D should be 60ng/ml.

Some people take 5,000 IU's a day... some people take up to 10,000 IU's a day, personally I take anywhere from 4,000 to 6,000 IU's most days ... but also have blood tested to know where you're at.

Vitamin D deficient is such a valuable vitamin in the treatment and prevention of so many degenerate and chronic diseases.

I recommend finding a natural health care provider who can help you get to your optimum vitamin D level.

Hope this help - and hope you have a great day today!
