Hello All
This is not to bitch or make me sound like I am better than anyone esle, in fact I am probably more or less the same as each and everyone of us. My discussion here is the topic of weightloss tablets/miracle weight reduction potions.....I am no scientist, although my wife is grin but I have read many many articles/publications and books over the years. I also know who my body works!
I have at times in my life been what I would call over weight at one stage 20-30lbs! over what charts would say is my ideal weight. Currently at 6ft and 215lbs.... But I have for the last 25 yrs always tried to follow a weight training and fintess regime. So my muscle to fat ratio is a lot highet than the average none fitness trainer.
Having moved to the US from South Africa I get see and here so many people looking for a miracle cure to their weight problem. Not withstanding the probable fact that a very very small percentage of people could possibly have a medical reason for the morbid or obesity, I am in fact pertaining to the average person who it seems eats themselves into the size they end up being before they start crying for help.
it took me about 12-18 months of not training and not eating a balanced diet for my weight to increase an extra 30IBS, Thats just under 5lbs a week. As I have a lot of respect for myself and the way I look I have never been into glutteny and have tried to keep my fopod intake in the realms of normality. If it took me 12-18 months to get out of shape, it was no suprise to me when it took me a year to take it off. Why should it really? why should I have tried miracle pills and cures to remove a yrs worth of idleness? knowing really that 6 months down the line I could get back to square 1...
It amazes me still that people don't get the true, tried and very much tested formula : energy in - energy out = surplus (fat) or equal (maintain) or deficit (weight loss)
In other words, if the calorific value of energy you put in your body is higher than the energy you expend, you WILL put on weight, if the calorofic value of energy you put in you body is lower than the energy yo uexpend, you WILL loose weight. If it is roughly the same then you will maintain your weight. This isn't rocket science but people make it!
Just what is on my mind!!

^Thanks for the insight. Right, but it's not as easy as you make it sound.

That is to say that if today, I had a lunch of pizza + pasta alfredo + pistachio ice cream + capuccino with cream on top, how do I burn all the calories taken?

P.S. I need to move your post to the Weight Loss forum. smile
