What can I do w/ boils? I took my niece to the doctor and was prescribed w/ antibiotic oinments, but after a while, it goes back again, like after a month.
It really results to discomfort… and besides, it leaves an ugly scar. :(

Sure. Any side effect, other than "it requires patience"?
I heard about the sterilized bottle method from an Asian buddy - that is what they use to drain the pus. My only hesitation is that it might leave another ugly scar. :(

Understand that boils are an outward symptom of what's going on inside the body. In other words, the problem comes from within. Therefore, you must address the deep routed problem from within.
Big question . . . how often do her bowels move? She would need some kind of herbal liver tonic to get the bowels to move 2-3 times daily. (avoid products with senna in it. Senna is too "hot" of an herb and can be habit forming) That would feed the liver to strengthen it. When the liver is stronger, within 8-12 hours of each dose the night before, the bowels will move from increased bile production. (Bile is the body's own laxative and cleanser.)
Now . . . she has to be able to eat raw garllic, uncooked. No garlic pills since they're usually a product that's ineffective. She should be able to chew up about 3-4 cloves of garlic per day along with her food.
Finally, she needs an herb that will cleanse the blood. She should get loose burdock root, yellow dock, and dandelion (raw). She needs about 2 ounces of each. Cook them in 1/2 gallon of water for 20 mins. Cover with a lid and let steep for 1 hour.
Strain, throw the old herbs away and add 2-3 ounces of glycerin to the liquid. Glycerin can be purchased at any pharmacy or health food store. She needs to start with 2 tablespoons per day for 2 days. Then start taking a 1/4 cup once daily for a day or two. Then 1/4 cup twice daily until finished. The boils should come to a head, break, and heal in about a week. Depending on how thorough your treatment is, she can avoid any further boils for some time.
As a supplemental treatment, you can heat garlic in a little olive oil (do not fry) and then place this oil on the boil covered with a bandaid at night. Garlic used like this will act as an anti-septic. Garlic has alot of sulfur compounds naturally.

It's actually a bacterial infection, and may be caused by poor hygiene. The pus has to be drained, along with the antibiotic s/ointments.

As always, prevention is better than cure. Make sure that you rinse the soap/shampoo well when your kid takes a bath. Some parents actually neglect that, because the kids are not very fond of bath time.

The environment is also one cause why we get boils. I would suggest that get a test on the toxin level in the body then detoxify your body to remove the poisons.

About antibiotics, what should be the proper dosage?

Bring your kid either to the pediatrician or dermatologist. Don't assume dosages.

She moves her bowel daily, I know, but how often, we do not track. So you are suggesting that these herbs be taken internally? She is 2 years old, I don't think she can tolerate raw garlic (I'm thinking of putting it in her milk, but no, still not possible). :( But if I get boils, I'll surely give it a try!
What we can try though is the supplemental treatment of olive oil with garlic.
PS. The supplemental treatment sounds yummy with salt and pepper like salad dressing on top of greens!
Thanks!

Hmmm, how can that happen, we bathe her as often as needed. She doesn't play with soil or any other dirty things that you can think of. Besides, as I've mentioned, we already tried the antibiotic ointments, as prescribed by her doctor.
It's not negligence either, as charlotte is trying to imply. :p

Chocolover:
Boils MAY be triggered (not caused) by a dirty irritation. But you've ruled that out by knowing her good hygiene.
So, it still goes back to the fact that the cause comes from within the body, not externally.

I just now read your response to my earlier posts. I did overlook something, which is why I rarely suggest anything without a consultation. You're right about her not eating garlic . . . at 2 years old!! lol Sorry about that.
Try the simple approach first of the garlic oil application. This will sooth the area, plus help to "ripen" the boil to a head. If it's only one boil and only a one-time deal you may be ok with that alone.
Let us know how she makes out. I feel for the little ones. I had 5 kids and have lots of experience with the usual childhood problems. I could tell you stories. lol

^Will do, after we enjoy our salad!
I'm kidding. It just sounds weird putting a salad dressing on the kiddo's skin (but of course, I also use mayo on my head and tomatoes on my face haha!)

^Yes, you have to bring your kid to a doctor. Do not assume what amount of medicine or antibiotic that they have to take.

Update: I didn't use the compress on my niece, for the reason that she doesn't have boils at the moment - which is just perfect. But because of my curiousity, I used it on my back pimple as a compress - and geez, it has become swollen and itchy. :( Where have I gone wrong?

Choco:
Pimples and boils are two totally different things with two different causes and are handled differently in herbology.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
