I believe this, too, because it can strain your eyes and therefore impair your vision.

Reading in a dim room or place can destroy the vision and will lead you to wear glassess. Avoid it now before its too late.

Yes, robertbrown is correct. Reading in a room with poor lighting could harm your eye because your eyes works 100%, but when you read on a dim room then the tendency that your eyes will work more than 100% and it could damage both of it.

Poor lighting can cause headaches and eye strain leading to the requirements of wearing eye glasses.

The eyes have two types of photoreceptors in the retina. These are rods (for night vision) and cones. In poor lighted places, the rods would activate and the cones deactivate. If the rods have been overused, it would permanently damage our eyes.

It’s not only eye sore you get when reading in dim or dark area. It can also cause astigmatism and poor vision.

The cause of astigmatism is unknown. It is usually present from birth, and often occurs together with nearsightedness or farsightedness. A minor degree of astigmatism is considered normal and does not require correction. Astigmatism is very common.

That’s why this ailment is considered as hereditary. If one of your parents has this, you’ll have 80% percent chance of getting this eye disorder.
