My husband recently crashed on his motorcycle giving him wounds all over his knees. For about two weeks the wounds are still fresh and i think it takes time to heal. My husband is prone to diabetes, he have high blood sugar count. Any suggestion?

Ah since your husband is prone o diabetes have a doctor check it. For flesh wounds I do not put plastic strips with acrnol all I do is clean them with alcohol and some disefectant or put directly a antibiotics on it.

You could check this out
Researchers at the University of Cincinnati say that a topical gel derived from a patient's own blood may help prevent infection while speeding up the healing process. The finding could mean that, in the not too distant future, a concentrated "cocktail" of a person's own blood could be used to help dress wounds, particularly in patients with diabetes or other disorders that slow the healing process.

I agree with robertbrown. dont put platic strips. just keep it clean all the time be sure to take in antibiotics. Since he's prone to diabetes, cut back on high calorie foods and drinks.

THE body's ability to heal even small skin wounds normally slows down as we age. But a study in older adults has found that regular exercise may speed up the wound-healing process by as much as 25%. The faster a wound heals, the less the chance it will become infected.

Having wound can be upsetting and very painful but you can heal it by using honey. Honey is a tissue builder and antibiotics at the same time.
Your own blood holds the ability to heal your wounds fast and prevent further infection. A new finding says that a concentrated “cocktail” of a person’s own blood could be used to help dress wounds, particularly in patients with diabetes or other disorders that slow the healing process. The finding explains why it becomes possible

Cleanse the wound with warm salty water & dab on Vit E oil to prevent scarring. Also for other wounds I find thermal therapy garments help ease pain & improve circulation for better healing.

Keep it clean and DRY. Do not use cream. Salt water is fine, or an antibacterial liquid such as dettol/savlon that you can clean it with.

If you are prone to diabetes and have a slow healing wound, I would advise seeking medical help.

I agree with cj. You should consult your doctor if he is a diabetic.
However, I am assuming your problem is probably resolved as your original post is about 6 months old already

Yes, antiseptic is the medicine for wounds. Be sure to have this on your first aid kit box.

Yes they do have, mango. Plastic strips has antiseptic to heal wounds, but it’s not that good to put on plastic strips. It’s better to put some antibacterial liquid or ointment and let it stay open so that air would breathe.

Put antiseptic medicine first and wrap it with gauze bandage. This will secure the medicine to cure the wound faster.

Thanks! I appreciate that, Catherine. For any severe diseases or illness, we have to consult a specialist for better treatment.
