I am a colon cancer survivor of 5 years. Following removal of ascending colon, the surgeon told me to not take stool softeners any more, only powdered products on limited basis. I'm wondering about doing a colon cleanse, and if it would be too extreme for an already tempermental colon that hits the extreme levels of too hard and too loose on occasion, as well as too seldom. Anyone with suggestions or experiences (other than 'ask your doctor')? Thanks

Thanks to all who replied...I originally decided to not do the cleanse. Things got worse, so finally tried Nature's Blend Cleanse with Herbs and Fibers. After 2 weeks on that cleanse I was worse off than before. I stopped it, but think I must have upset the good bacteria, so may decide to go with some probiotics to get back in sinc. I'm thinking that Mother Nature is the best guide to good health overall, with the least interference the better. At 83 years I can say she has done O.K. by me so far!
But...if cleansing works for you, who am I to disagree.

You can try to detoxification. Drinking tea helps detoxify our body and also a good source of cleansing the stomach and intestines.

Please elaborate on what research and where you found statements of colon cleansing pills being harmful?

IMO it would be too extreme to use a colon cleanse. My mother is a colon cancer survivor of 31 years so I do have some idea of what you are going through. I do agree with robertbrown, drinking tea would probably be better for you to detoxify your body and even though you don't want to hear it, consult your doctor for the best and healthiest solution.
Good luck.

You can do your own research about colon cleansing pills if they are harmful or not. Based on what I read on the internet those colon cleansing pills are not natural and might cause side effects in our body.
