For a person with dog allergies, life in a dog-loving country isn't easy. Nearly 40% of U.S. households have a dog. Dog dander gets everywhere, including places where dogs have never set a paw. According to the National Institutes of Health, detectable levels of pet dander are in every home in the U.S. People with allergies have oversensitive immune systems. Their bodies overreact to harmless substances -- like dog dander -- and attack it as they would bacteria or viruses. The sneezing and watery eyes are just the side effects of your body's attempt to destroy or flush out the allergen. So if you or a family member has dog allergies, talk to a doctor. Getting control of your symptoms will not only make you feel better, but it will help protect you from becoming sicker.

Labradoodles are not hypoallergenic (despite the claims that they are).

They do no shed which I love. Also, there is this homeopathic tincture at Whole Foods by Bioallergen that helps with dog allergies (you place a few drops under your tongue).

Main thing is:

1. Use Filtrete filters and change monthly.
2. Keep dog out of face until he gets used to it.
3. Wash hands often and let you give the dog baths.
4. Keep the dogs hair cut short and use dog bath wipes like Allerpet between baths/grooming.
5. If necessary keep the dog out of your bedroom (this is a hard one).
6. I also wipe my dogs butt and paws when he comes in from outside.

I think it’s for him. Well you can ask a dermatologist or your family doctor for immediate care for dog allergies.

If you mean that your dog has allergies, well there is no herbal medicine for them. You can try medicinal soap for animals or consult you vets about dog allergies.

I think you have to ask a doctor regarding antihistamine. All I know is it can treat allergies cause by food. I don’t know if can treat allergies that you get from your pets.

I always drink anti histamine whenever my allergies attack. These are the only medicines to stop allergies and prevent its spreading on the whole body.

Yes, that’s the word, Danica. Antihistamine is the first aid for most allergies and then it will give you time to go to the hospital.

Antihistamine also works when allergies develop thru animals. I surely have to buy these medicines for first aid purposes.

Antihistamine has a side effect - drowsiness. You can ask your doctor to give you alternative meds.

Atopy is a common cause of allergies on dogs. To avoid it try to clean your surrounding and avoid your dog eat or smell molds, flowers, dust mites and dust.

I think you should ask your vet about the information. They could give you accurate info and you can share it with us by posting on the thread.
