I'm thinking about switching to organic food, but I would like to do some more research about it and get people's unbiased opinions about it. Any inputs? Advantages? Disadvantages?

Organic foods and beverages can cost as much as 50% to 100% more than conventional foods and prices are going up for both organic and conventionally grown items. On the other hand organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that eat organically grown feed, and they are not given antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides, genetic engineering, or radiation, and its production emphasizes using renewable resources and conserving soil and water. Organic foods are not free of pesticide residues, but they do contain smaller amounts than found in foods that are not organic. Organic foods are an alternative source of foods for those who are concerned about pesticides in foods.

There is debate over whether organic foods are more nutritious than conventionally produced food and the U.S. Department of Agriculture makes no claims that organic foods are safer or more nutritious.

Pro: Less preparation. Organic food is basically wash-and-go.

Con: Organic farmers consume more time and money versus spraying fertilizers. Therefore, price of organic food is higher than the conventional.

The difference would be the size and texture of the veggies or fruit that you buy. Organic fruits and vegetables aren’t sprayed with any fertilizer or pesticide and the y grown in their normal state. You will see that organic food is much smaller than those non-organic.

Organic food is much healthier than processed food. One difference is that when foods become processed they use several types of chemicals that is bad for our health but can preserve for long period of time.

Since there are organic fruits and veggies out in the market, why not try organic rice? This is also healthy rice, more vitamins and minerals and less carbohydrates. The only negative feedback on this is that it’s too expensive.

My point there is that soya made from ice cream is healthy. Since it is made from soya, it is also considered organic.
