I've heard some coaches advise their athletes to stay off caffeine especially when they're preparing for a big game. Is it a fact that caffeine affects athletic performance?

As long as you stay dehydrated, I dont think there should be any issue. And also as long as you take everything in moderation, I think it's okay to take caffeinated drinks

Drinking coffee is not recommended for everyone. Coffee may become addictive, to prevent anxiety attacks avoid caffeine, such as coffee, tea, colas, and chocolate. Caffeine can keep you in a tense, aroused condition. Pregnant women, people who suffer of heart diseases and those suffering of ulcer are advised not to drink coffee. It’s recommended not to drink more than three, maximum four cups of coffee per day.

Caffeine is not bad for the athletes. It also helps them in their sports and endurance training. As long as the athlete is drinking or taking caffein in moderations. But the best food to give them is foods high in protein and potassium.

What about all these energy supplements & drinks, are they harmful? I have a nephew that seems to be hooked on energy boosters. He has to have something to boost his energy everday and throughout the day.

we have a saying once is enoguh and two is too much. Too much of anything makes you feel addictive to that particular thing. your nephew might be someday dependent on enrgy drinks whenever he skip a day not drinking it may result of poor immune system.

I didn't think about that but yes, I guess it does implicate an addiction.

All I know is that carbs are best for athletes, not caffeine.

Some athletes drink coffee to stimulate their body before an event or game. It depends on their coaches and trainers if they can drink coffee.

Caffeine was banned a long time ago for athletes competing in sports. That banned was also lifted, because it was proven that it’s not affecting the athlete’s performance.

Coffee is good for athletes but they have a limited amount of serving per day. They cannot drink coffee if they are already in the limit because it might harm their activity.
