Is it safe to reuse water bottles? I know we should be recycling and all, but are their health implications?

As long as you clean them first before using it again.

Some people worry that plastic releases cancer-causing dioxins.Based on research, Dioxins are not present in plastics used for food containers or plastic wrap. But when you choose to reuse a plastic water bottle, don’t forget to clean it just as you would any drinking container. Be sure to wash with hot soapy water and dry thoroughly between each use. The concern is that bacteria can thrive in warm, moist environments, and once opened, bacteria can grow in virtually any beverage container under the right condition.

The bottles are safe for one use only; if you must keep them longer, it should be no more than a few days, a week maximum and keep them away from heat as well. Repeated washing and rinsing can cause the plastic to break down and the carcinogens can leach into the water that you are drinking. Better to invest in water bottles that are really meant for multiple uses.

Yeah, better invest in actual water bottles rather than risking your health. I think there are other better ways to recycle your used water bottles

I have a article in the news paper and also receive emails about getting cancer from reuse water bottles. How true is this?

There is concern that its effects may not be limited to endocrine processes, potentially affecting neural pathways as well. Even very small amounts have been shown to change animals’ bodies, so as well to humans.

How about putting the plastic water bottles in the freezer? Does ice have any effect on the content of the reused bottles?

i think that both heat and cold can damage a plastic bottle. every type of plastic bottle has a specific lifespan and manufacturers should label it accordingly or place a warning at the bottom because they're not really meant to be reused that much.

For me i dont re use water bottles even i have cleaned it. I have a feeling that I need to sterelized them when reusing but once sterilized them it cramples and distoted the phisical feature of the bottles because its plastice. It ended that i recycle them by goin to a recycling plant and give it to them.
