CureYourBody.com is excited to announce the launch of
its new forums. The next several months will be critical to setting up the
forums the way you want them to be. So
if you feel we should add more categories or sub forums, please let us know.
We'll add sub forums on our own as well, if we feel a
large number of posts are being made on a specific topic. For example, "Colon Cleansing" was added as a sub forum to the Gastroenterology forum since there seems
to be a lot of posts for that specific subject.
water is a natural appetite suppressant,so developing a good water drinking habit can be a long term aid in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.it's also important to remember that when the body is dehydrated, fat cells get rubbery and cannot be easily metabolized.this means that it's harder to lose weight when you don't drink water.

Please explain what you mean by the highlighted red statement.
when the body is dehydrated, fat cells get rubbery and cannot be easily metabolized---This means that when we don't drink water and the body gets dehydrated then its hard to burn fats as water plays a key role and the fat cells do not get metabolized...this results in weight gain
I would like to add that water is a great way to eliminate waste from the body. Drinking water regularly will also help keep you feeling fuller than you would normally thus it is a great weight loss aid. By drinking water every hour on the hour you will also keep hydrated and your skin will look INCREDIBLE!
I like to drink a full glass at least every hour, not the standard 8 glasses

I never really thought you could drink too much water, but today my sister mentioned that she had read that too much water is actually bad for you. Is this true? I'm not sure how much water I drink a day, but probably close to a gallon. Is that bad?
Water poisoning comes from drinking gallons of water in a short period of time. If you drink over a gallon of water a day and still feel thirsty, you probably are flushing out electrolytes. Drink some Gatorade or Pediasure and you will be fine
So, if it's based on body weight, I suppose I should continue to monitor my intake as I lose weight, so that I don't end up drinking more than I should. Thanks!
The more water you drink the better it is for your health. But, I wonder whether anyone could drink gallons and gallons of water. Theoretically, it may be possible, but practically speaking it is not. Drinking 8 glasses of water is good for health. Let's not drag it to extremities.
Actually I am a pretty active person that drinks on average 16-20 glasses of water a day. If I drink to much more I can get shaky and even forgetful. Caffeine depletes your body of water, so any glass of it you get, add 1/2 - 1 cup water to help restore your body. Also, add one cup with every hour of exercise and half hour of extreme exercise. When people read that drinking water can help with weight - loss, they can go to extremes, so it is good to mention them. But I will admit, normally the case is people don't drink nearly as much as they should.
arobidoux I wander if you can post the reasons mentioned in that article your sister read. Too much of anything is usually bad, but too much of mater is much more than what most of us drink. If you feel thristy just drink water. I'm pretty sure it will not harm you.
Tt is best not to exercise with a full stomach or you may feel uncomfortable and sick to your stomach. Give yourself 60 – 90 minutes for small meals to digest, and up to four hours for bigger meals.
Water is the most important nutrient for your body when you exercise. Drink it before, during, and after exercise or sports competitions. You should keep drinking water throughout the next day after heavy exercise. It is also important to know that thirst is not the first sign that your body needs water. In fact, once you are thirsty, your body has already lost fluids that you need. If you become dehydrated, this means that you have lost more fluids than you have taken in. Signs of dehydration are a dry or sticky mouth, not being able to pass urine a lot, urine that looks dark, not being able to make tears, low blood pressure, and rapid heart rate. You need to replace that lost fluid.
Basically, a sports drink offers your body three things it might need before, during, or after vigorous exercise:
Hydration. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that people drink about 17 ounces of fluid about two hours before exercise, to promote adequate hydration and allow time for the body to excrete any excess water. During exercise, they recommend that athletes start drinking early and at regular intervals in order to take in fluids at the rate they're losing them through sweating.
Fuel. The carbohydrates found in sweetened sports drinks provide energy to help delay fatigue, Clark says. The Gatorade Co. says lab tests have shown that 6% carbohydrate (14 grams of carbohydrate per 8 ounces of water) is the optimal percentage of carbs for speeding fluid and energy back into the body.
Electrolytes or Minerals. These are things like sodium, potassium, and chloride that athletes lose through sweat. When water goes out of the body, so do electrolytes. And when the body is losing lots of water (as during exercise), it makes sense that you need to replace electrolytes.
I find that when I drink lots of water, I get full easily, hence making me eat less. but i believe we should drink water more for it's health benefits, rather than as a diet instrument. losing weight is only a bonus, if you are trying to lose weight
