I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I would like to ask what is the "proper" way to do a low carb diet program. Most of my friends try to totally remove carbs from their diet, but I know that this isn't the proper way. Any tips? Advice?

I reduce the carbs, but don't do away with it completely. However, I have taken off sugar from my diet on a regular day. The only carbs I do a hi fiber options like brown bread (2 slices) for breakfast, and brown rice or brown pasta for lunch. I try to have more proteins in the form of milk, yogurt (plain), eggs, fish, chicken etc. in relation to the reduced carbs.

Am not sure how right this is, but this is what I follow.

There is no definition of low carb. That's why there is all this confusion. Nutritionists don't recommend a very low-carb diet which is less than 30 grams except under medical supervision.

Here's a good maintenance diet:

Reduce your intake of simple carbs -- sugars and white-flour foods.
Drink less soda.
Eat less candy, less white bread, less white rice.
Eat less fried food such as French fries.
Eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Today in America, greater than 75% of Americans do harbor some degree of insulin resistance. How resistant you are will dictate your essential need to decrease carbohydrates. That said, while it may not be necessary for everyone to eliminate all carbohydrates from their diet...some people may not be able to achieve what is known as "ketosis" - where you body starts using some of the stored fats essentially as fuel. Some may never truly achieve such a state still.

My advice is to wander to the BodyPRIME subforum here at Cure Your Body and peruse the forum. The diet plan actually entails a "proper" way of doing such a plan and you may consider this as a generalized guideline.

For Low carb diet you must eliminate all food in this group of carbohydrate. You have to avoid rice pasta braed and other food rich in carbohydrate. But it depends on your body physique. If your obeses its better to try it but if not its not well recommended.

Low carb diet is good for the body and make sure do not eliminate carbs in your body. Their are the souce of energy on your body as well. You can use low carb diest and eat more protein to help boost your muscles and form them. Without carbs you will loose muscles because our body need energy to burn to.

Well you can exchange the carbs on your body by putting more protein on it. Because protein also gives you energy and very healthful athletes as well.

Is it true that a low carb diet causes you to lose muscles? If yes, what is the best way to lose body fat?

Every professional that I discuss this matter with do not recommend low carb diet, for the reason that most of the weight you lose is water.

We need at least 60% of carbohydrates for our daily consumption. Carbohydrate come from the calories that we eat per day. So if we need 2000 calories per day 1,200 of those are carbohydrates.

I totally agree with you. We still need carbs to maintain and keep up with our daily routine. We just need to increase more on our cardio exercise to burn more than what we usually burn. Intense cardio work out and lesser carbs will definitely fasten the process of burning unwanted fats.
