A couple of years back, there was a problem with WiMAX here in Sweden. Almost within hours of WiMAX being activated, the emergency services received calls from people around the station with complaints, of sharp headaches and difficulty breathing.

I know WiMAx is popular now, but was still questioning its safety aspects.

I am really surprised; I haven't ever heard or thought of this. I have heard of radiation from cell phones and towers, but never thought of WiFi or WiMax safety.

This is for the first time I've heard about Wimax. After going through this thread, I am confused. I want to know what exactly is Wimax? Can you throw more light on Wimax. Thanks.

The WiMax basically combines high-speed broadband Internet access over a wireless connection. It is similar to WiFi but over a much larger area. WiMax requires a tower, similar to a cell phone tower, which is connected to the Internet using a standard wired high-speed connectionbut it uses a microwave link to establish a connection.

Hope thats clear now.
