I recently bought a treadmill, thinking it would be a good way to have some sort of exercise since I live such a busy life. However, after a few tries, I find that I am easily bored by it and so I'm not that motivated to use it

Any suggestions on how to make it more fun?

I love to listen to music whilst working out. I have friends who watch TV while on the treadmill- I even have a pal who reads books !

wow, how do you read while walking? That sure sounds tough.

I agree to music, plug on your iPod, nothing to beat that.

I think music is the best to work out to on a treadmill. Perhaps you could have a workout buddy to try and keep you motivated?

I used to run a bunch on my treadmill - interestingly I never lost weight until I QUIT running and started lifting weights.

But - when I did use my treadmill I found doing interval-style workouts to be the best. For instance, you vary the incline and/or speed for short periods of time, followed by periods of time of normal speed and no incline.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys. I just hope I can keep it up, I have a really short attention span. Maybe I should just go out and try real running. Haha

I enjoy doing treadmill because youwill not jog or walk outside and when it is raining its hard to jog and walk. Once you have a treadmill its easy for you to exercise at home and while watching your favorite tv show.

Listening to your iPod or watching TV while you are doing treadmill exercises will be a fun and exciting way to do.

I agree, music is the best to work out to on a treadmill and having a workout buddy or sometimes just having someone there with encouraging words or a very stimulating conversation helps.

You can make a game while exercising on treadmills. While watching your favorite TV show, Try to see how many steps you can take during on commercial breaks. Count your steps every commercial breaks and see if you are improving on the number of steps you are doing.
