I am going off sugar, honey, syrups - maple and corn, and was wondering what are the artificial sweeteners available and which is the best option.

I did aspartame for some time years back till I was told it was the worst option; i went back to sugar. but now need to give up the calories.

Artificial sweeteners are shrouded in controversy. Most of them have aspartame, which, as you mentioned, cause more damage to your body than actual sugar.

From what I've researched, the healthier alternatives to sugar, are natural sugar alternatives like Xylitol (found in strawberries and some vegetables) and Stevia which is an herb

Ive read that xylitol, a artificial sweetener, is most likely to be the best artificial sweetener. Its safe and nutricious.

Just don't overdo it I guess. Exceeding the 6 to 8 grams of recommended Xylitol for oral care can cause stomach discomfort and above 40 grams a day as sweetener might cause diarrhea

For artificial sugar do not use saccharin it is cancerous and worst of them all. Aspartame is a bit good but it has side effects like causing migraine and other allergice reactions. The best that I have read is splenda or sucralose.

Splenda is a terrific substitute and does not have that bitter aftertaste as most do.

I have heard the same thing but have not seen any actual studies nor has it been publicized via newspaper, magazine or television.
