Diaper rash is basically any skin irritation that a baby gets due to diapers. Normally small red eruptions that trouble the baby.

Diaper rash is a skin reaction, usually due to the moisture and bacteria in babies' urine and stools. Though, it is uncomfortable, but diaper rash is not dangerous.

Good thing I didn't see powder in this thread! No matter what, DON'T USE POWDER, it locks in moisture.

First of all, olive oil is not an essential oil, it is a carrier oil, so let's not confuse things, ok?

Second, there are essential oils that are harmful to the baby's skin, and therefore should never be used.

Third, make sure that you know how to use them. There are a couple of EOs that cannot be applied neat, and therefore have to be diluted in carrier oils (e.g. almond oil, olive oil, etc.)

Hope this clarifies.

Let me share mine:

- I lay the baby down on a play mat (if you don't have, use a blanket) and let him play with no diapers as long as he can tolerate.
- I give a soak on warm water with baking soda, as long as he doesn't get cold, he'll be fine.
- After bath, let the "rashed" area air dry (make sure that he is wrapped on other parts of the body.
- Use a diaper rash cream before replacing.

You can also use zinc oxide ointment for diaper rashes. Apply it evenly on each diaper change.

Let your baby breathe in. When your baby has diaper, rash apply ointment and do not wear a diaper for a couple of hours so that the rashes may be healed off.

Good point there, john, I think you are a responsible father. Rashes can be treated by applying ointment (prescribe by a pedia) and let your baby half naked for at least 15 minutes to let air breeze thru.

That was also the thing that I do to my baby when she was 1 month till 1 yr old. The rashes will not be treated easily if they are not being breath out.

I don’t apply any creams for diaper rash. I just wash my babies private and let them sit without any diaper just to breath air.

I read an article on the internet that these creams for diaper rash can cause allergic reactions to your baby. You are doing the right thing krissy for not using those creams.
