I've moved from the west coast to florida. I don't have any health problems. Do I need a family doctor? How do i find one?

Its always good to have a Family doctor, one who knows you and later your family. I grew up in a small town where my family knew my complaints and that of my parents too.

If you are looking for a family doctor, try talking to your neighbours and people at work. They should be able to suggest a good Family doctor. I think family doctors are trained in all areas of medicine. So they are able to diagnose and treat all the problems people usually bring to their doctors. They know when to treat you, and, if necessary, when to bring in another specialist you can trust.

It's always preferable to have a family doctor. Though we may look healthy, we don't know what is happening inside our body. In cases of emergency, we can approach the family doctor for prompt treatment.

I agree with Superstar, it is best to always have a back up plan- you never know when you might need a doctor, so it would be best to find one in your area that you are happy with- just in case!

I would get a family doctor as you never know what is going to happen to you. I would suggest speaking to neighbours or work colleagues to see if they can recommend a good doctor to you.

That’s their specialization about family medicine. You can consult them about your health and your kids’ health and they will make suggestion and medication for your health.

Ah really!! That’s the reason why our family doctor is referring us to specialist.

Family doctor is also one specialization of medicine. I guess when your doctor found out that the sickness that they diagnosed on your family is not on their field. That’s why they refer you to a specialist.

Actually, they are also classified as general practitioner doctor. They are mostly designated in the emergency room and if the patient disease is not on their field then they report it to a specialized doctor.
