CureYourBody.com is excited to announce the launch of
its new forums. The next several months will be critical to setting up the
forums the way you want them to be. So
if you feel we should add more categories or sub forums, please let us know.
We'll add sub forums on our own as well, if we feel a
large number of posts are being made on a specific topic. For example, "Colon Cleansing" was added as a sub forum to the Gastroenterology forum since there seems
to be a lot of posts for that specific subject.
I have been advised by a friend who lost weight herself, to try the cabbage soup diet (also called I think Mayo clinic Diet). She says I could lose upto 10 lbs in a week.
What she wasn't able to tell me was what do I do after the one-week? what can I eat to maintain my lost weight?
- Half an apple with 2 teaspoons of peanut butter
- An orange and a few dry-roasted nuts
- 10 cashew nuts
- 10 almonds
- 2 ounces of lean roast beef
- Half a small avocado
- 3 ounces cooked whole-grain noodles with 1 fresh tomato and 1/2 ounce hard cheese
- 1 seven-grain Belgian waffle
- 4 mini rice cakes with 2 tablespoons low-fat cottage cheese
- 3 ounces low-fat cottage cheese and 3 whole-wheat crackers
- 1/4 cup fat-free ranch dressing with mixed raw veggies
- 6 Wheat Thins crackers with two teaspoons of peanut butter (or any nut butter)
- 1 small baked potato with 1/2 cup salsa and 2 tablespoons of fat-free sour cream
- 1/3 cup of unsweetened applesauce with 1 slice of whole-wheat toast, cut into 4 strips for dunking
- 1/2 cup frozen orange juice, eaten as sorbet
- 2 large graham cracker squares with 1 teaspoon peanut butter
- 3 handfuls of unbuttered popcorn, seasoned with herbs
- 4-6 ounces of no-fat or low-fat yogurt
- A 5-ounce tossed salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and 1/4 cup fat-free dressing
- Half a "finger" of string cheese with 4 whole-wheat crackers
Yes the Cabbage soup works. But you might have a bad stomach while you are on it. Also this diet is meant only if you want to lose weight soon, e.g for a wedding or to fit into a tight dress
You go back to your regular food after the one week.
The Cabbage Diet or the Hollywood Diet, use semi-starvation methods to make you lose weight which, if you didn't already know, is completely ridiculous. And it's bad for you too. Diets that restrict one or more of the food groups should top your list of diets to avoid since you'll be missing out on important nutrients and your weight loss will be temporary.
Why waste your time? If you are going to put it all back on again.
What exactly is cabbage soup diet? Can some one give more details about this diet? I want to try. Please help me.
The Cabbage Soup Diet is based on a fat-burning soup that contains negligible calories. The regimen relies on strange food combinations that force you to nearly starve yourself each day. Dieters are allowed all the water and "cabbage soup" they want, plus a very restricted set of other foods.

Yes cabbage soup will help you lose weight but cabbage soup is not enough you must eat more protein food and exercise so that you can cut off the weight in your body.

If you eat that and only that, you will get very tired of it very fast.
Agree. Besides, because eating is lifestyle, once you resume to your "normal" eating habits after the diet, it is most likely that you will just go back to your previous weight. Useless.
Eating cabbage soup is beast for weight loss but I agree with mwcavoy, you wil get tired of eating these food . Try to eat a well balanced meal that is low on sodium, fat and carbohydrates and exercice everytime.

I agree, these are semi-starvation methods that will only result in a waste of your time. These tend to prove worthy for the moment, i.e. prom date, graduation, wedding day, special dinners or day of sorts. Because the weight will come back on you.
It's boring to eat cabbage soup every day but it is an effective diet. For as long you can stand to eat it every day, add spices like jalapeno, cayenne and Cajun seasoning.

Effective for how long? Just a quick weight loss for graduation, a wedding or a party? Or will this weight stay off as long as you maintain a healthy diet?
First of all, it doesn’t give the necessary vitamins and nutrients. Second, it doesn’t look tasty to eat and lastly you will only try this diet for 1 day. (I bet you)
The Cabbage soup diet is a radical weight loss diet designed around heavy consumption of a low-calorie cabbage soup over the time of seven days. It is generally considered a fad diet, in that it is designed for short-term weight-loss and requires no long-term commitment.
