Hello everyone,

One thing I always felt I wanted to express myself on is fitness and the environment. Many people unfortunately do physical activity by polluting the environment. Yet, fitness and environmental-friendliness can go hand in hand!

For example, if you go for a daily walk after work in the evening, why don't you go for a walk GOING to work and returning? I mean why not do physical activity as a method of transport as well as fitness?? Believe me it can be done.

You are so right! I don't do any physical activity 'alone'. I use my bicycle to ride to school everyday, and sometimes to the bus stop. It certainly can be done, save time, money, and CO2!

Everyday morning I walk around 3 miles to keep myself fit. On the way, I enjoy the greenery and the cool breeze. The early morning calm and quiet atmosphere is soothing to the body and mind. Yes, we need to spend time with nature to not only appreciate its beauty but also to understand the need to preserve our environment. Fitness and environment go hand in hand. Cheers.

welcome

Ya know, I never had really thought about it in that way before, they do go hand in hand for a lot of things don't they? Thanks for sharing the knowledge and I hope to do my bit for the environment (and my health) in the future.

I hear what you are saying, and yes, we all should do our part to help lessen the polutants that are destroying our environment, but not everyone can walk or bike to work. I work 23 miles away from where I live, and there's no way I could get to work on foot or by bike. Another suggestion, however, is to carpool. That way there will be fewer cars on the road.

That is true, mango. A healthy lifestyle should start on the state which you’re living in. It must be clean, don’t throw your thrash elsewhere. Start a crusade in your community about taking care of the environment.

Yes Aayus! You are totally, absolutely and definitely right! Everyday, I just walk in going to school and going back home! I save a lot of things like money! Why go for a ride if you can walk, right?! But then, every vacation, I jog around then just take a walk in going back home. But before doing that, I do warm-up exercises. In that way, I can be physically fit and environmental friendly! bouncy smile

thumbs up

That’s why one day in a week, I ride a bicycle going to work. It saves a lot of fuel and it keeps me healthy (because it's cardio exercise).

Hi james555,

That's a good exercise huh?! But I think it would be better if you would do it twice or thrice a week,... thumbs up

Just my opinion.. sorry but if you don't like it, you may continue your daily routine..

James, you need to use your bike more frequently. You will save enough energy and will not pollute the air.

That's a good idea. It will lessen the pollution and reduces global warming. I'm also thinking of swapping my car to a compact electric car.

That’s a good idea Michael but electric cars cost more than conventional automobiles.

I have read an article over the net saying that even if it’s compact they are still pricey. Try to just to lessen your fuel consumption and have a regular check up of your car.

Yes, electric cars are still expensive. This is also a good investment in the future and it’s really a protecting the environment.

If your office is closer where you are living, it’s still best to walk or taking a bicycle. This will also be your cardio exercise and it’s good because less pollution and good health lifestyle.
