Hello guys. I've read about a diet called 'dieta dissociata' and which is about not combining (eating together) proteins with carbohydrates. Any ideas on this diet?

hello Ramesh. You probably read of this diet in "You are what you eat". This diet was introduced by a doctor in 1916 and actually suggests not to mix carbohydrates, with proteins, about also not with fruits. This theory is challenged by tradition (as most traditions have a carbohydrates dish, followed with a protein one), and by many doctors today. No one can really say it's a 'scientifically-proven' theory.

I absolutely agree with Aayus, and I speak of experience. I had followed that diet for about 5 months, although being highly criticized by family. One day however I was reading the nutrition facts on a foul can and I was shocked to notice that it contained both proteins and carbohydrates! Now if plants naturally grow up with both, I don't see why us humans have to separate them!

To know how this makes sense, may I just know the hypothesis behind this diet? A link to the article will be helpful too. smile

We have to combine protein and carbohydrate. Protein is for building healthy muscles and carbohydrate is for the energy needed for a day’s work.

Hey jim... I think the diet is all about NOT COMBINING food types. What you're saying is contradictory to the original poster's statement.

I don't follow. Each poster has his/her own idea about the diet. What is dieta 'dieta dissociata' in the first place?

It depends on the diet plan that you are following. Some diets combine major types of foods on an ample amount. They usually combine low carb meal and high fiber food.

Yes, that’s good for people with hypertension and high cholesterol. Low salt helps to lower blood pressure and high fiber food helps remove bad cholesterol.
