I grew up believing that touch is healing. The wonders of touch therapy can only be understand between the love of mother to her child. It contributes to child's weight gain and enhanced social and emotional development. If massage is given at bedtime, it encourages calming and peaceful sleep as well.

Talking from personal experience. Baby massage is a form of communication between mom and the newborn. My baby likes being picked up and massaged regularly and the gurgling sound my baby makes is proof enough. In fact, I have my doubts that he now cries only to be picked up and rubbed by me. Tiring work

I also read from the internet that to a certain extent, it can help cure ailments, such as heart failures and infections. I don't know how and why, there's not much literature that I can gather, but if you do, please share. smile Thanks!

^Unfortunately, there have been no studies or theories to prove that it can help alleviate medical conditions. Don't be discouraged though - because it still helps improve your bonding with your child. smile

pinkcamellia,

Aside from bonding, it helps relieve stress and improve your baby's self-esteem. I read about the studies too, including reduction of colic, improves the immune system, food absorption - actually, it shows several improvements in a baby's growth and development.

In a way, I guess it is. Reiki is a Japanese technique to reduce stress and is a form of relaxation and sometimes healing

Well I believe touch therapy with massage enhanced baby’s growth development and healthy weight gain. Touching our baby make them feel better, comfortable and relax. The more we touch our baby the more they feel that you care.

Touch is very important to our baby. Infant cannot talk and understand right? The best way for us to communicate with them is through our touch. By touching them they will feel and understand that we love, care and protect them. Touch in many ways is our first language, touching them in a loving way enhanced their growth and development.

I have done touch therapy on my 2 kids when they were still babies. In my opinion, they are strong and they are not getting flu even if the weather is changing.
