I think it is probably best to just link you to Dr. Houser's fatty acid recommendations, which covers all the details of CLA.
Fatty Acid Guidelines

Quick Summary:
1. Tonalin brand CLA is the one all studies are based on.
2. The dosage is dependent on bodyweight
3. It is an Omega 6 essential fatty acid
4. It has been shown to be a anti-carcinogenic
5. It helps keep/grow lean body mass

Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA is useful to the heart as it reduces total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides and may protect against atherosclerosis.

For my own opinon it is not a drug o supplement for the heart its more on muscle rebulding tiisue. Because it increase the amount of blood glucose and the system metabolic of our body. Good for those people who is working out because it helps to rebuild those muscle fibers and aiding who wants to get weight gain in their bdy. It can be found in meat and soy milk.

CLA is a supplement designed for breast and colon cancer. For diabetic patients you need to consult your doctor if you can take this medicine for your illness.

There are 3 main side effects of CLA when it is used as a dietary aid. It promotes insulin resistance, raising the glucose level and reducing HDL or the good cholesterol.

Thus, CLA is bad for patients who have heart problems and diabetes. This is being used for cancer patients especially those who have colon and breast cancer.

I think before getting or drinking medicines, be sure you ask your doctor about the drug. CLA is a powerful drug and can’t be bought OTC.

As a diabetic person I would hope you are consulting a physician prior to taking any OTC drug.

I don’t want to buy OTC medicine especially if they are for heart and other vital organs in the body. I would also consider seeing a doctor first.
