Both banana and apple have health benefits but i will choose banana because it's less expensive, so i always buy them compare to apples.

In terms of calories a medium sized apple contains roughlt 47 calories, whereas a medium sized banana has 110 calories. As they are both essential for health in different ways (banana has potassium, calcium, vitamin C, B6 and carotene & an apple has amino acids), I would say that it comes down to personal preference as to which is better.

My first question to the thread starter: why should you compare banana to an apple? (obviously, it's not an apple to apple comparison) rof

Anyway, each of this has their own benefits, as mentioned previously.

1. Apple - helps reduce the chances of cancer, help maintain a healthy heart

2. Banana - helps decrease the chances of stroke and high blood pressure.

One is not necessarily better than the other. They both have their benefits, so it's your preference.

I wanted a relative comparison between an apple and a banana. Because, no useful purpose would be served by comparing an apple with an apple or an orange with an orange because the contents will be the same. I'm sure you will appreciate that.

It depends on where you are, actually. I'm guessing that you are in a tropical country. smile

Anyway, since they both have benefits in their own right, why not try to alternate them?

Compared to the apple, the banana has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorous, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium.

Banana seems to be better than apple. Why not take banana as well as apple a day to derive the maximum benefit!

Cheers.

It really depends on what you are looking for....while i really enjoy the taste of a banana compared to an apple....i choose the apple as it doesnt affect my blood sugar to the degree that a banana does

Yes, I agree with the views of the moderator. I think sugar patients should avoid banana as it has high sugar content, instead they should go for apple. Thanks for your thoughtful suggestion.

I prefer bananas for the burst of energy they give me, however, I like to have an apple before I eat a main meal as I have been told that it makes you feel more full up, therefore are likely to eat less.

Both fruits are healthy so it’s better to eat them together. Apples give vitamin c while bananas give potassium and vitamin k. Bananas and apples are also good sources of fiber.

Both fruits contain fiber and anti-oxidants. Bananas are good for people who lacks in potassium and an apple is good for people who has diarrhea.

Don’t make the fruits compete with each other. We can eat them together since they give vitamins and minerals. They are also a healthy alternative to junk foods.

Yes, I have the same opinion. Fruits can help remove toxins and detoxification because of its dietary fiber. Both banana and apple are fine.

Jim I agree with you. We don’t have to put fruits into competition. All of them have vitamins and fibers which can help remove toxins and digest food properly.
